My new love and workhorse around the world while i film and write....35 Barenia Sellier Kelly....she's a well-loved, well-worn, wise partner in crime :) She's incredibly versatile, totally sturdy. Any scratch is rubbed out with my finger, she's Sellier but she's also soft...structured but not briefcasey...surprisingly casual boho chic, and she exudes an Indiana Jones/Out of Africa vibe as I lug her around day to day in this mountain town/ski resort where I'm based. She's going to Nepal, Bhutan, and Italy with me next month alone. Stuffed with papers, passport, scripts, and even goPros....I've finally found a match that I LIVE with (and I've had almost every H you can have but the exotics). Hearts and hugs to DocRide for being my Hermes angel as always.:cloud9:

Wow, I'm not sure which is more impressive, the bag or your Ode to the bag! I love seeing bags that are really used and a part of the owner's life, and this one looks like it ticks all the boxes for you. Love that "Indiana Jones/Out of Africa vibe" you describe -- it really sums up the appeal of this particular leather. If you don't mind my asking, did you use Kellys regularly in other leathers, or was it the Barenia that did the trick? And, do you find it heavy in a 35?

Congrats on your gorgeous bag!

Love how you describe your new workhorse and this is the first time I see a sellier in this size. Truly amazing bag with many years still to go. Barenia is my favourite leather and I appreciate so much Docride and her work.

Congrats on your gorgeous bag!
I have used Bs more than Ks historically (Bs in both 30 and 35 in various leathers - togo, box, chevre and Barenia). The two Ks in my life were a BBK 32 and a Gulliver 35 - both retourne. Previously i found the Kellys to be "fussy" to get in and out of and I did not adore them. I do love Barenia but my previous two Barenia birkins (fauve and ebene) were in the end just to darn heavy day to day when loaded. This Barenia 35 Sellier was a bit of a gamble to be honest. I knew a 35 Kelly would be lighter than a 35 B in this leather, and the fact that it was rare in Sellier and not new made it intriguing. I'm so glad I took the gamble. This particular bag is comfortable for me, its dimensions feel good (despite being Sellier and a 35 i'm not banging corners or feeling briefcasey), and its not a pain to close or get in or out of. And no, for me - its not too heavy. At least not in comparison with other bags I've carried (with the exception of box leather).

Thanks for this. I've always loved the look of the Kelly in Barenia but took it off my wish list because I was worried about the weight. Now I will consider it again! Glad yours is working so well for you -- and interesting that the fussy factor of the clasp isn't an issue in this particular leather!

Your welcome - i took another picture in better light today - color is more accurate. I dont know why this one doesn't bother me with the fussy factor. I guess i've found every H bag is a unique individual and they all just feel a little different, despite seeming the same style :) Hope you get to check it off your wishlist!
