NYC H - Rude??

Yes it was Wall Street H that I called. It was a surprise to me as well 'cause all H SAs I've dealt with are super duper nice. I'll drop by in person next time and give that a go since it sounds like this is actually a very friendly store.

I totally depends on the SA who answers. They have often given me information on both their own inventory and the results of inventory searches over the phone. Try going in there, getting the card of a friendly one then calling that SA for any such questions.

poptarts, I don't know exactly how your conversation was worded and of course it's a shame they were rude but I have a couple thoughts that *may* help get your questions answered when calling a boutique.

When I call I usually give my name and city, so the convo might go something like this:

"Hello, this is xx and I'm in xx and was wondering if you have a minute to answer a question for me regarding leather and color availability. I would really appreciate your help."

I am almost always successful with this approach.

If you think Wall Street was rude, try to phone a store abroad and see what you get - I guarantee it will be far more rude and brusque.

Oh, abroad they are rude to you in person, not just over the phone! I am positive that even the Mothership would refuse to entertain you over the phone, unless you happen to be a regular with a particular SA.

I've called FSH before to ask about a bag and shipping to the US and an SA I had never met before was totally lovely to me about availability and prices. It was not regarding a Birkin or a Kelly.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. There is some severe rudeness going on at Madison Ave sometimes. Most of the SAs there are absolutely lovely, but there is one SA I avoid. One example: "We have no scarf booklets for you"... umm....and me being me, I was like, "Me in particular or just generally?" :p

Oh that's too funny!

I once called Madison and wasn't too happy with the service... but I do get it, they are busy, many people call with questions, yet still it was a bit disappointing... and I only called because they were one of the few stores that had a particular lil' item that I wanted, turned out they sold out anyway.

Since then I don't even bother... I just talk to my SA (THE BEST SA ever, at Riverside Square NJ; PM me if you want the contact info) and he finds what I need /want and even gets it for me from other stores... I couldn't ask for better Customer Service :cloud9:

I had very mixed response, 50/50. They seem very busy even when all the other stores are slow, like Barney's down the street.

I wish you better luck. I notice they don't treat you well when your not really dressed up. I really never do thought. I always look for the same SA. she has been there for 8 years. She is just lovely! Black lady named Buki.

Oh, great...I'm visiting NYC next week and I'm gonna be in shorts and flip flops the entire time. Should I even bother going in to browse?

Funny that you mentioned this. I have a friend who is in the retail business, and he told me never judge the book by the cover. I also remember reading from this forum the same message too. IMHO I think you should do whatever you want! Go in if you feel like it! You are the customer after all!!!
