I called one of the H boutique in NYC for a small piece of information, the only words I was able to get out was a name of a bag and the size before the woman rudely cut me off by saying "We don't discuss our inventory over the phone."

I said I'm not asking her to discuss her inventory and I have not even asked my question yet. I wanted to know was if that bag in a particular leather and a particular size is still $XXXX, she cut me off again by saying "We don't discuss that over the phone."

I understand some information might be sensitive, but is this normal? I have my own lovely SA that I normally deal with, but whenever I'm shopping at out of town H stores, I always have very pleasant experiences, H SAs are always polite and very helpful, and I've never been refused for a quote in person or over the phone. This woman was just plain rude.

Oh my....poptarts, sorry to hear that! That boutique is our number one boutique in terms of friendly service and stock...but that's really rude and there's no excuse for that...sorry to hear that! Give the store a chance to redeem themselves if you could!! I know the store manager and the assistant manager will not tolerate that as they work so hard to please people there...JMHO!

Sadly, I'm not surprised. There is some severe rudeness going on at Madison Ave sometimes. Most of the SAs there are absolutely lovely, but there is one SA I avoid. One example: "We have no scarf booklets for you"... umm....and me being me, I was like, "Me in particular or just generally?" :p

I'm afraid that if it was Madison Ave you phoned, it would not be surprising. However, I can't imagine that this would happen at Wall Street. They have been uniformly great---everyone! I agree with petpringles, if you are referring to Wall Street, give them another chance, and/or talk to one of the managers. SO SORRY you had this experience.

No need for this lady to be so rude to you but unless you have a very good relationship with an H SA they will not discuss prices or bag availablilty over the phone and even if you have a great relationship they'll often only discuss these things in hushed tones and not when they are on the shop floor

Yes it was Wall Street H that I called. It was a surprise to me as well 'cause all H SAs I've dealt with are super duper nice. I'll drop by in person next time and give that a go since it sounds like this is actually a very friendly store.

oooh yeah, my bad...why did I automatically think it was Wall Street store...could have been Madison...nonetheless, they shouldn't ahve been rude but please give them a chance...which ever store!

I find the SA's at Wall St and Madison very nice. Madison actually gave me availability on the colors of a bag in stock when I called (it wasn't a Birkin or Kelly though). Yes, give them a chance again!!

I know you said that it was Wall Street that was rude (still very surprised). But I just wanted to clarify/correct my above post. I should have said re: Madison, it MIGHT not be surprising. There are a number of very nice SA's at Madison Ave, but I think that sometimes, like Beaumonde said, there is an attitude problem there. They are often VERY busy (it seems more busy than Wall Street) and so maybe that contributes. In any case, I do hope you give both Madison and Wall Street another chance.

They get dozens of phone calls a day asking for birkins. This is partly due to tpf, where the ridiculous rumor is perpetuated that birkins are literally growing on the trees on Broad Street. (Nothing could be further from the truth - they had a lot when it was a new store last year, but now, its a long wait even for their solid, regular customers. Remember, its a very small store and this translates to the size of their normal order of bags. There is virtually no chance of walking in either NY store off the street and getting a birkin except for maybe an oddball one in a color or crazy jeweled hardware). In defense of these beleaguered SAs, I think they get understandably impatient with people who call out of the blue and want a birkin, largely due to the tpf hype about their alleged abundance of bags. I am not saying you did anything wrong, and I know you say you didnt even get your question out, but bear in mind, you were probably about the tenth call in a row so the minute you said " --- " they probably cut you off. Almost every boutique will give you a brusque reaction if you try to call and ask a question and the "B" word is mentioned - they are told not to discuss "B's" over the phone. If you think Wall Street was rude, try to phone a store abroad and see what you get - I guarantee it will be far more rude and brusque.

I agree with Jedimaster, that is my point too. People are calling them every minute and they have to help walk-in customers at the same time. All SA's in Wall street store are very nice and trying to help. And I visit it pretty regularly and never saw a single B on a shelf.

I think it may just have been the SA you got. I called last week to get current price of my Birkin & Kelly for updating insurance records (today's replacement cost) and the SA I spoke with @ Madison gave me the info. He was very pleasant.

Oh please give them another shot. I have been very lucky and enjoyed working and meeting the SAs at both Madison and Wall Street. Everyone was most friendly and helpful!!!
