i have 2 piercings in each ear. i got the second hole pierced when i was a sophomore in high school. is this look trashy? i am thinking about letting the 2nd hole close up...

what are your opinions on the number of piercings in each ear? just curious!!!

I also have 2 piercings in each ear. I wish I didn't, but it was all the rage in high school for the girls to have the multiple hoops. I put very small (2mm) studs in them.

Now I prefer the look of one earring and I don't wear anything in the second hole, they're barely noticeable, although sometimes they get infected and gross for no reason. They haven't "closed up" and I don't think they ever will.

i have one in each ear lobe, and on my left, one near the top of the ear. i think it also depends what kind of earrings you wear that may give off an impression that the look is trashy.. maybe too much bling, or too many large hoops?

I don't think it looks trashy. (Oh god, now I'll get all paranoid!)
I used to have three in my right ear but I realized the third wasn't aligned correctly with the one in my left ear, so I'm letting it close up and I'll get it redone. I have five in my left ear. I had my industrial done back in February and I changed out the barbell to a spiked circular barbell and an omega. I get a lot of complements on it!

I got my first set of holes when I was 9, second set when I was 10, third when I was 11, and the industrial when i was 17.

Definitely not trashy - but multiple piercings allow you to add bling if you want to ... cartlidge and tragus piercings are popular even in professional settings so do not at all be concerned.

Coolsteel - great photo. i like the look of your (conservative) pearls with a couple of non traditional ear piercings. I also like the idea of having some bodyart - navel ring, lower back tattoo - under a conservative frock or suit! Although I am not as game as one of my co-workers who has a pierced tongue and wears a clear retainer at work...

Do you wear this combination frequently or a straight barbell through your industrial holes? What about your lobe piercings - do you not wear these often? Any comments from friends/co-workers on the jewellery?

Sorry for the questions ... but one other - the larger horse shoe jewellery is great. very different. Can i ask where you got it from?

Thank you for your kind words! I changed my barbell out for prom and I just replaced the omega with a circular spiked barbell because the omega kept gettting caught on everything. I'd like to let it heal up like this because I noticed that when I had the barbell I had a little swelling (luckily not a keloid) that would get irritated when I'd wake up. I have to admit, once I got the barbell taken out I had the best sleep of my life! My industrial's hole are 14 gauge and my other ones are 18 gauge. I usually wear small hoops in them unless it's a special occasion. I'm just lazy :P. I get a lot of complements on it. People really liked the omega because it looked so elegant. Other people have asked me if it hurt, and I tell them that I don't really have a problem with it because I've been pierced so much. The worst part is probably getting your ear straightened out after they put the barbell in. In the mean time, my poor right ear is feeling so lonely. I'd like to get my tragus done but I'd like to let my ear heal up so I can sleep again!

Plenty of different gauges to choose from from 2 GA to 14 GA.

I have that 3 in one ear and 4 in another. i had 4 and 5 at one point..

but let em close. i kept going back when i was in HS. and my mom would say... If you wanna look like a Gypsy its fine with me..lol I wish I would have listened to her. haha
