Just arrived today, bowler pm in Cigar fonce I think ? My question for you balenciaga ladies is what year did this come out and this leather is so thick and gorgeous, I find it hard to believe it's lambskin. Any info would be much appreciated !! View attachment 4906829
Cigar fonce is S/S 2013. I had a pompon in that colour and the leather was thick and very smooth. Can you post the tag back?

could it be just altered if the original stud fell out/lost? and flat hw was used from another bag (beaten-up) and all studs replaced? how does it look from inside?
The studs on the M/U are smaller than on my FBFs and my FB besace so they're specific to this bag. There is a seam in the bottom of the lining that looks like it was sewn after the lining was put in but it was done by someone who knew how to sew, maybe the seam ripped and repaired. There's no indication at all that the studs were replaced.

Also, having realized the studs are indeed smaller, that blows the theory of someone just grabbing the wrong studs when the bag was made. So there are either more of these out there or it was a special order...

Also I noticed outside some definite reddish undertones, maybe castagna is the color ??
The upper case "MADE IN ITALY" tag indicates either 2011 or S/S 2012, before the alpha letter was added to the tag to show what season it was. Usually bags of that time had colour codes but this one doesn't. If I google the style code it pulls up several of these bags but all are on Asian sites. You know your Bals, do all of the other markers look good? Do you want to throw it on the AT thread and we'll take a look or are you comfortable with it? Not trying to freak you out or anything, there might be something I'm missing here. There are a few earlier bags with upper case lettering on the tag back and I don't know much about this style, if everything else checks out I suspect this is one of those. I'd be interested in seeing the details.

@Dmurphy1 a little search shows that there are 09 bags in this style in patent and metallic that have upper case "MADE IN ITALY" , old posts on Yoogis and FP (those were holiday collection). If yours is an 09 it's probably chataigne. Is the "S" on "PARIS" on the front of the tag rounded or kind of squared off?

The woman I bought it from, sent me the Yoogis Closet receipt, not that that's a guarantee.

Tag looks authentic, I wouldn’t worry unless you see any blatant signs that look wrong to you re: the usual details. Looks like a lovely bag, how are you finding it so far?

Yup, so pre-2011. So probably the 09. I don’t know whether or not this was made in 2010 for it to be castagna, I’ll check around a little more, but we know the tag is correct for it’s time period anyway. I’ve always thought castagna and chataigne were pretty close.
Thanks for the info muchstuff, I really appreciate it !!!
