Not Sure How I Feel About New Business Model...

It would definitely stem the tide for nonsense but it would decrease sales overall. I do not shop at places that are all final sale and if I do buy final it has to be a damn good deal or something I really want.

If Coach went to final sale they would loose alot of business, definitely mine. I agree that they could decrease the amount of time to make a return, unlimited is just too long.

I so agree!!!!

KSNY offers 30 days with receipt for cash back and MK offers 30 days exchange only and clearance is final sale.

Seems like 30 days is the norm.
That's why I don't buy much MK. I was shocked when I bought my first MK on sale. The very next day I saw the same bag in a different color that I would have preferred, but I wasn't allowed to exchange. That turned me off of MK. If I really wanted it, I would rather buy it at Macy's where I know I can return it.

I really don't see a problem with the returns.
Since FP bags get sent to the outlets after being out about 3 months, any FP bag that is returned after that, gets sent right to the outlets anyway, so no harm done IMHO.

Outlet bags are returned to the outlets anyway, so again no harm done. In fact it's wonderful to go to the outlet and find a bag that's 1 - 2+ years old, and they get snapped up quickly. Would love to pick up a Lindsay, Sophia, Sabrina etc.

Many of the department stores have long/no time limits, so they must know that people need more time to make returns, and buy more when they know they can return, and that they can still sell returns at their outlets.

I did buy something from Kate Spade once that was final sale. The bag was damaged when it arrived and they sent me a replacement. I think they would have refunded me if a replacement bag was not avail. But I don't think during a final sale will take a bag back that is not damaged.

Kohls has an unlimited return policy. But I imagine if someone returned a shirt they bought a year ago they don't try to resell it. Not sure where it goes, someplace like Marshall's maybe?

But with Coach, especially full price bags, what a nice surprise it is to stumble across and older style at the outlet. I have not done it but have seen others who got amazing finds.

In this scenario Coach has lost their opportunity to sell the bag at full price and make a larger profit, so they are indeed losing out.

Of course Coach is losing out. 3-4 (or older) year old bags that have been sitting in someone's closet and are crumpled, musty, or perhaps "slightly" used, are not sellable. No matter how well those bags were supposedly taken care of, they are still aging in someone's closet for years. This makes them something that should be donated to GoodWill or sold at a low price on ebay, not something that should be sold for full price back to Coach.

If Coach puts a few of these out on the clearance racks, they are losing a lot of money on what they could have sold them at if the bags were returned within 30 days.

If bags truly sold out that would be true, but in the past bags never sell out and wind up going to the outlets no matter how popular. Example Dragonfly Duffles and Floral Sofia, very popular but still seen at outlets and available months later.

Final sale would lose me as a customer too, as would if Coach goes the way of the MK outlet, returns for store credit only. DS is still trying to use a $200 credit from an MK gift 2 years ago

I don't mind a shorter return period (than indefinite) that seems fair.

I am confused. If one does not like the current return policy via the outlet or FP, why still purchase? My lovely daughter LOVES MK and she does not mind purchasing from outlet - for me - I DONT buy MK for that reason - I am NOT spending good money on a item that I know can only be exchanged - but that is ME. I dont see Coach going in this direction - NO refund final sale .

30 day Return 60 day exchange is not a bad idea but sales will go way down even at FP.

I rarely buy final sale items. If I do it is something that is not a big investment. Such as a t-shirt or something similar at a clothing store.

Coach could even go with a 90 or 180 day return policy. 6 months should for sure be sufficient...even if purchased as a gift in advance.
