This is so sad. I‘m going to miss the anniversary sale.
I hope they let us shop on Nordstrom.com again. I used to buy a ton from .com but the same selection was not available on .ca
I just heard about this and I’m shocked, actually. It’s just so sudden - like BOOM.
Admittedly, I don’t really shop at Nordstrom or the Rack, but I do when I go to Seattle. The Rack has never been that great here, but I find even the ones in a Seattle (except maybe two) are crappy now.
I feel like it has less to do with the climate of retail and more with the difficulty of doing business in Canada. Target certainty learned that lesson.

I think retail is so tough in Canada and I am so sad to see Nordstroms go. I didn’t shop there often but when I did, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They had great clothes for kids. I will pop by next week before the sales start to see what I can purchase before everything gets picked over.
I just bought a cashmere sweater online from Nordstrom on Feb.28. This is so sad, we have one less shopping site now. Plus, all the job losses from the Canadian closures.

I lived part time in Canada and absolutely loved the Toronto stores. We don't get Nordy at home. And so sad for everyone losing their jobs! I hope the company helps with retrenchment packages for everyone.
I ADORE Rack. Seriously, especially in this economic climate, we need discount stores that stock high quality goods such as Rack. Their shoes were amazing. I bought so many to take home.
Wonder whT will replace the store sites. The old Bay at Yonge and Bloor was still closed when I left. With the Rack gone too, it will look so dismal.
And Eaton Centre! And its reindeer!! Nooo...
I have no idea what you put in place of the Nordstrom at Eaton's, or the Rack at One Bloor, or at the Bay at Yonge Bloor. I'm also bummed that this means the Nordstrom Cafe will also close - I love how old school / retro it feels to have a resto in a department store. I loved the cafeterias' in Eatons as a kid.
I'm bummed, but it seems all the department stores save maybe The Mart are hurtin'. The Saks now is pretty dismal (no Louis Vuitton, no Dior). The Hudson Bay's are all closed here at like, 6 or 7:00PM.

Very very upset!! I actually lost sleep last night over this. Nordstrom's was such a pleasant escape for me - I was fortunate enough to live close by a Rack and a dept store - loved their Ebar and restaurants too. Reading on twitter I was so surprised so many Canadians wrote: "there's Nordstrom's in Canada??"
