I didn't care for the Hours and her prosthetic nose. Virginia Woolf and her family were considered to be very beautiful at the time, and they made the focus on the nose and Kidman looked so miserable because of that thing on her face. I also thought anyone could play that part.

I realized Kidman was a good actress when I saw the Aussie series, Bangkok Hotel (so upsetting) that she could be funny, as in To Die For, and she could play heartbreaking as she did in The Others.

I became aware of her with The Others (2000). I saw it in a cinema in Holland and was blown away by the whole film. I then saw To Die For and Eyes Wide Shut on TV after, I think she's a phenomenal actress. Away from the screen I've not been that bothered, but I hope she's living her best life. I must say, she usually looks one of the better dressed on the red carpet, but also quite forgettable.

BTW, Every time I see one of these couple threads newly revived, I think there's been a tragedy, divorce or 'uncoupling'
