Nicole Kidman: I broke my rib getting into corset for Moulin Rouge
NICOLE Kidman has revealed she was so obsessed with having an 18-inch waist (45 cms) for the film Moulin Rouge that she broke a rib getting into a corset.
Speaking on the Graham Norton Show to promote her new film, Paddington, Kidman said she has never gone to such lengths to prepare for a role as she did for Moulin Rouge.
I hurt myself dancing in heels at three in the morning and I fell downstairs she said. I then re-broke my rib getting into a corset.
I had this thing that I wanted to get my waist down to 18 inches, which Vivien Leigh had on Gone with the Wind and I was just like, tighter, tighter!
Kidman said preparing to sing on screen was also nerve racking.
Moulin Rouge was really hard for me because singing is not something that comes naturally to me. It is so frightening to have to sing in front of people. I get terrified, she said.

The kind of scrutiny shes been subjected to cant be comfortable, and shes dealt with it by being very carefulthats what gives people the wrong idea. Shes not someone were going to see out paddle-boarding in a G-string; she doesnt set up situations where shes playing to the paparazzi. Shes more old-school than that. Shes not that kind of movie star.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, Nicole Kidman dropped a bomb on the late-night host: he could have dated her! While recounting the story of how they first met back in the early 2000s a mutual friend named Rick offered to introduce the two by bringing Nicole to Jimmy's NYC apartment the Oscar winner couldn't contain herself as she revealed that she "liked" the then-SNL star and had considered the visit "a hangout." Unbeknownst to Jimmy, he totally blew his chances at landing the Australian beauty; between his offering of brie cheese and corn chips, lack of communication, and the fact that he "put on a video game," Nicole admitted, "After about an hour and a half, I thought, 'He had no interest, this is so embarrassing.'"
