Nicole Kidman’s father Dr Antony Kidman dies in fall

NICOLE and Antonia Kidman’s father has died.

It is believed Dr Antony Kidman was at his daughter Antonia’s house in Singapore when he fell and later passed away.

Antonia lives in Singapore with her husband Craig Marran and her six children.
The respected psychologist was the Director of the UTS Health Psychology Unit at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.

He has also done research into the psychosocial impact of disease.

In June this year, a beaming Nicole Kidman, 46 walked the red carpet with her father and husband Keith Urban at the Swisse Celebrate Life Ball in Melbourne.

It was at this ball Dr Kidman proudly wore his Order of Australia medal which he accepted in January for his services to health.

Dr Kidman had a very close relationship with his daughters Antonia and Nicole and their families.

He was also a regular speaker on radio and television.

Dr Kidman wrote several books on mental health, including 2011’s Staying Sane In The Fast Lane, which focused on the effects of technology on daily life.

Antony married Janelle, a nursing instructor. Nicole was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967, while her parents were studying overseas.

Heartbreak for Nicole Kidman at father's sudden death

Nicole Kidman arrived home to her grieving family in Sydney on Sunday morning following the sudden death of her father in Singapore.

Dr Antony Kidman died on Friday after suffering a suspected heart attack in the restaurant of an exclusive hotel in Singapore, where he had travelled to spend time with his youngest daughter Antonia and his six grandchildren.

As Nicole flew to Australia to be with her family, Antonia Kidman's husband Craig Marran endured the difficult task of visiting a Singapore mortuary to formally identify his father-in-law.

Marran visited the mortuary at Singapore General Hospital on Saturday morning and spoke with local police and undertakers from Singapore Casket.He declined to speak to the media, the Straits Times newspaper reported.

Dr Kidman, 75, was director of the Royal North Shore Hospital's Health Psychology Unit and director of the Health Psychology Unit at the University of Technology, Sydney.

Nicole Kidman: Breaks silence after her dad’s death


A “HEARTBROKEN” Nicole Kidman has spoken out publicly for the first time since her father’s death earlier this month, calling wellwishers’ thoughts and prayers “comforting.”

“We would just like to thank everyone for their love and prayers over these past couple of weeks,” Kidman wrote in a Facebook post co-signed by husband Keith Urban.

“We are all heartbroken but knowing we are in the hearts and thoughts of others is so comforting. Sending love, Nic and Keith xx.”

Urban, 46, also shared the note via social media.
The Oscar winner’s father, Dr. Antony Kidman, died on September 12 after reportedly suffering a fall in his hotel room. He was a well-known psychologist at the University of Technology in Sydney.

Kidman, 47, delivered a eulogy at her father’s Sept. 19 funeral (via the Daily Mail), saying: “I’m so lucky to be his daughter and that he chose my mother to make me with.”

“The only regret he’d have is that he’s not here to see his beautiful grandchildren grow up,” Kidman continued. “And that he’s not here to take care of [my mother] Jay.”
Urban, who has two daughters with Kidman, cancelled his shows following his father-in-law’s death, saying via Facebook that the family was in a “deep state of grief.”

The Australian actress, who is mourning the recent loss of her dad, Dr. Antony Kidman, told Australia's KIIS 1065 radio station on Friday, Oct. 10, that she hasn't given up on her dream of adding an extra baby to her brood.
Kidman, who adopted children Connor, 19, and Isabella, 21, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, already has two biological children with husband Keith Urban. But while she's besotted with Sunday, 6, and Faith, 3, (who she had via surrogate in 2011) the redhaired actress admits she never gives up hope of more kids.

"I hope every month that I'm pregnant," Kidman revealed, "but I never am. I would be jumping for joy if it happens," she said, before adding, "I'm 47, it won't happen."
When host Jackie O shared news of a friend who was pregnant at 49, the Moulin Rouge! actress allowed herself to get excited. "That’s incredible, what a fabulous thing. My grandmother had her last baby at 49 so you never know," she said. "I'm baby crazy. I love babies…kids, they are just extraordinary," she continued, before admitting husband Urban might not feel quite the same way about going back to diapers again. "He might not be jumping for joy," she admitted, laughing.

The mood changed later on in the interview when Kidman nearly broke down when asked about her dad's death.
"He was an amazing man," the Oscar-winning actress said of her father, who died last month in Singapore, at the age of 75. "We have the tightest family, we really do. Now I'll get upset," she said.
After taking a break to compose herself, Kidman was keen to thank friends and fans for their support. "I have to say, so many people did reach out, it's the greatest thing," she said. "I used to be like, 'Oh, I don't want to intrude, it's awkward,' and now having been on the other side of it, it's so beautiful when people do it. A card or call or anything, it really does [mean a lot]."

Nicole Kidman was going back to basics on Friday with a straight hairstyle and her natural, red hair colour.

She's recently favoured a lighter style with a gentle curl, but the 47-year-old actress was looking more like her old self as she swept her highlighted 'do into a soft side fringe at Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament press conference.

Nicole was putting in a glamorous appearance for the sporting event in a gold mini dress to complement her natural, copper tresses.

The actress, who touched down in southern China on Thursday, has been throwing herself into work.

But she appeared to have undergone a subtle image transformation on Friday, sporting a blonde 'do with ringlet curls only days before.

Nicole has been recovering from the sudden trauma of losing her father Dr Antony Kidman, aged 75, in September. Since then, the Moulin Rouge actress has been able to put a brave face on her hidden heartache, suddenly looking like she was making efforts to get back to her familiar, natural image.

Nicole spoke confidently at the China event, accessorising her metallic ensemble with carefully-chosen gold accessories. She maintained her poise with a wide smile, choosing a relaxed, feminine hairstyle to speak at the golfing event.

By night, Nicole was also sampling a darker look with her outfit choice as she opted for gothic glamour in the heart of Haikou, China.

Dr Ken Chu walked Nicole down the red carpet for the Opening Ceremony of the Mission Hills golfing tournament.Only two days ago, Nicole wore her hair blonde - a style that she's worn since filming thriller Before I Go To Sleep.

With fans remembering her for iconic redhead locks, the Chinese audience handed her a caricature on a stick, illustrating the stunning star with her famous flame-coloured hair.

Nicole Kidman walks the red carpet with her husband Keith Urban at the 2014 BMI Country Awards on Tuesday (November 4) in Nashville, Tenn.
