Does any one else find it strange that the bridesmaid dresses were from Alice and Olivia - I would think it would be a premier designer or at the very least a high end bridal designer (Vera Wang etc.) that would have designed the bridesmaid dresses - I thought she looked lovely and actually loved her dress but that strikes me as so odd!

Some people really hit the jackpot in life, don't they, can you imagine being born into an already rich family and never having to work a day in your life, and then marrying into a family that pretty much owns the world and makes your family's money seem like pocket change in comparison. I can't even comprehend such a charmed life.

On another note, I remember reading an interview with a well known make up artist who named Nicky the worst rudest celebrity he has ever had to work with. I guess being quiet and low key doesn't necessarily translate into being nice.

On a very general note, that's probably true. But what I often find out is that charmed life has many setbacks too.

the older I get, the less important money and material things matter. As long as I have my husband and boys by my side, I'm happy......they seem to have such empty lives given all the money they have.

But Alice and Olivia isn't actually cheap or poor quality is it?

Yeah I have to agree with this... I have been around "wealthier" circles since I was little and what I have taken from it is that for some reason these social events attract some of the most superficial people you will ever meet. You're certainly not judged for your personality - possessions are at the top of the ladder, with business achievements (which help to accumulate wealth) as a close second. I can't imagine actually being a Hilton and having to live with that type of vacant a$$ kissing your entire life.

From my experience, people who're born to old money don't pay much attention to material things. Sure, they enjoy some fine things but it's not their number one priority in life. They value good education and wise business choices more than they value money per se and they view their wealth as a means to live a good life, not as their sole purpose. The nouveau riche are usually the ones that show off their wealth.

Yeah but you generally will not find those people at these network-esque parties.

Depends. I've been to a party at an exclusive members club once (a friend was a member) and the organizers had actually seperated the nouveau riche from the old money members. One half of the room was filled with the nouveau riche and their guests and the other half with the old money people and their guests. The bouffet was in the middle. :p
