That concrete a$$ and those chicken legs are such an odd looking combo.
I guess she's just gonna keep releasing singles until she gets a hit...?

OMG at the cover for her new single. Good grief.![]()
Well I'm going to agree with her...why are those pics acceptable and her's not? Aside from the size of her behind, there's no difference between her pic and that 3rd and 4th one. They're all tacky to me and I'm tired of seeing women with a piece of shoestring up their behind. And she had the nerve to compare it to swimsuit models on instagram.

I don't disagree with you but also don't agree that the medium really matters. They're acceptable and she's not. Bull! No difference to men where they look at sexualized women or the 'job' that a woman holds who's being sexualized. As if someone is picking up SI and saying 'ah yes...these are models, let's keep that in mind as we ogle..this is a safe oggling zone'. I could easily take one of those model pics and make it an album cover and then what?! Same thing. Those are swimsuit models, her picture is for an album cover. She speaks about being a woman in a male dominated industry and wanting respect but then she sexualizes herself. There is a difference other than her behind being enhanced, if she wants respect as a female rapper and not a sex object she should act like it.

Nicki already has respect as a female MC and has she said somewhere that she doesn't want to be a sex object? I think she's actually ok with that role. I'm not sure if that's an assumption that she doesn't want to be treated like a sex object or if she has actually said that....I've can't recall hearing or reading her saying anything such.
Oh it is vulgar but I find SI vulgar as well. There's no difference at all in either so just because she's making an uncomfortable social point doesn't mean that she may not have a point. What really does make one accepted and the other not?I see where you are coming from but I think it's unacceptable for an album cover and if one of the sports illustrated models had a single coming out and put their butt on display I'd think it was inappropriate too. I just don't agree with Nicki making it a race issue when the cover is just vulgar.
You are probably right she does like being seen a sex object but I don't consider her a respected female MC. She'll never be in the ranks of MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Yo-yo and etc. But bottom line is she wanted to create controversy and have the media buzzing about her new project and it worked, it probably won't transfer into big sales but at least it's free publicity.
Good point. Chances are the people who are seeing Nicki's cover are the ones checking for her album whereas the SI mag is everywhere mags are sold, in plain sight. No difference. Those magazines are at grocery stores where everyone can see them. Nicki is right. And she paid for that a$$, she better damn sure use it. Return on investment.

Just because you don't consider her a respected MC doesn't mean she isn't considered one amongst her peers and the hip-hop community. She's pretty well regarded simply for the fact that she writes her own rhymes. She's not my cup of tea and I can't get down with her music; every once in awhile, I catch that she can actually rhyme but the act is distracting, to me. No one is going to be as good as the first so not really a fair comparison to deck her against original female MCs who had to downplay their sexuality to be regarded as good. It was just the opposite side of the spectrum.
Nicki needed a gimmick to enable people to listen and she used sexuality, the Barbi persona, and all that other ish as a draw. It's clearly all an act. Just as she ditched Barbi and those goofy wigs/outfits, she'll probably ditch this over-sexualized act too.
