New Turquoise and Rock Crystal Alhambra Collection

I have been offered a piece from this wave. Offers are out already, but don’t know about the pieces themselves. It is the strangest buying experience I have had. If I didn’t know better I would think my SA was selling unauthorized. Has anyone who got an offer now or before experienced this?

I don’t want to specify location or the piece because in case my SA reads this and revokes the offer since they were kind enough to give me time to hold it and decide, but it is really odd. One odd thing is that I unexpectedly have some time to decide whether to purchase, but cannot come in to try on although I live locally and use the private room when trying HJ or if store is crowded. I was in trying something else and my SA told they would message me later, then sent a message later and it was about this offer. They didn’t even mention it in the store face to face and they did say in the message I can’t try or even see it if I come back to the store and they can only have someone from security bring it as a courier, which is usually a choice not a requirement. I’m thinking to accept the offer because it is a perfect fit to my collection, but the circumstances are just too strange. I almost would not be surprised to get a Venmo request from my SA once I accept rather than the offficial payment link it is that weird. It seems like maybe they did me a favor by offering without authorization from Paris? Or they said these requirements are from Paris so maybe Paris has lost their mind even more with weird games?

I think I will probably accept and then only if something is really off about payment I will say no this is not right, but the whole thing is so weird I wanted to check in to see if anyone else has experienced this or has any thoughts

Thank you this is so helpful. I was told it will be the normal payment link but did not commit yet and haven’t been sent it. I was also told by no means can I come to see it and absolutely forbidden to pick it up even in a box and unmarked bag. They also will not send photos. I am really going back and forth as I have wanted this and it is a perfect fit in my collection but if this is not normal I am wondering if maybe the piece was turned down and has a small defect or something undesirable. I will ask what happens if I need an adjustment or repair or even if there is actually a defect and I need to return. A special purchase like this shouldn’t be so stressful, but it is hard to pass up and i guess they know that very well. I am tempted to be a smarty and ask if I can ever wear it to the store when I am shopping in person in the future…

I think that you have a good plan, I would proceed exactly as you have lined out. I actually would ask them if you can wear it while shopping in the store, but in an *innocent* way.

I don't think this is regarding rock crystal. That would be very strange, the qualifying for this piece is at a lower level and less vetting involved (though still a fairly high requirement) than for turquoise/pave or lapis/pave.

Thank you both. I don’t want to specify what it is so I don’t become a client who has a falling out. I do think someone was offered this first or was supposed to be. When I asked about return my SA insisted I would not want to return it and didn’t make me feel confident I can return it if needed. I didn’t even ask about wearing it in because it didnt feel like a friendly conversation. I will say no today I think.

I was hoping confirm this is truly some exaggerated new policy from Paris, but I understand my feeling that this is unusual is unfortunately right

Nothing to note in an addition to general care you would have for any stone piece. Consider it like Tiger’s Eye or Chalcedony.

How strange and interesting!

However if they messaged you with details (I assume the text included description of the piece and price), it seems they are not concerned about leaving “written evidence” of the offer? Might this be a case of your SA “stealing” it from under another SA and therefore cannot have you try on in the boutique?

If you decide to say no, hope you can let us know what the SA’s reaction is. Or if you say yes, how the transaction played out.

Go with your gut feeling.

To my knowledge, the turquoise alternating bracelet and necklace are offer only, and very limited. I also had to buy the set together. You can, however, find older turquoise pieces in WG and YG on various resale sites occasionally, but they’re at a hefty premium since they don’t offer them in their regular line anymore.

With the somewhat arbitrary? “spending cutoffs etc” (maybe it’s boutique specific) I just kind of assumed no one who wasn’t spending millions a year would get an offer, and I certainly haven’t spent that, but I do have a lot

I never really understood the turquoise hype (particularly with alhambra), but after seeing these in person (first turquoise alhambra i’ve ever seen), I totally get it. The bracelet especially pops since it’s a light turquoise color, similar to my pendant. The necklace and especially my butterfly earrings are a bit darker but still have a major wow factor with the color. The YG just adds a richness that the cool WG doesn’t… I paired it with my YG YMOP grace kelly bracelet the other day and that was a great combo. I would imagine guilloche or guilloche alternating diamond would also look amazing!
