I disagree. Cartier did originate the Santos design and I can spot it anywhere! My friend messaged me today to say she just watched The Other Woman with Cameron Diaz and she had the bracelet and necklace on. I think true Jewelry fans would know what it is and to others it is a shiny bracelet.

I also do not think it overpriced . If you look at 14g gold paperclip chains that weight about 5 grams , they are about 1k from no name jewelers.I looked at a site called babygold. If I were to sell it, I would just get the gold weight which would be pennies on the dollar. With Cartier I am able to recoup more than just scrap metal cost. I will not get another non signed gold piece ever. I have LOST a lot of money doing this.
I am very excited about this release of Rose Gold! I hope to get the necklace as well. :)
I agree with this! My SA said the 8” bracelet is 10 grams and I need 6.38” so that would mean removing 6 links. Looks like there are 30 links in total in the 8”. That means once I get it sized it would be about 8 grams. I looked at some paper clip bracelets on TRR and they are even selling second hand for $1000-$1500 for bracelets that weight 2-5 grams! 😵‍💫 Based on what I’m seeing out there, I feel like this is priced somewhat reasonably for Cartier.

Gold is super high. They did just raise the Santos last spring. It went up a lot. But everything is expensive now! I look forward to seeing your santos reveal! I am so happy they made a small size, very smart to do so.
I will be going to Cartier soon and will take pics :)

Here is another paperclip bracelet , much cheaper. only 14k, weight is 2.5 grams.
I don't think it looks as polished as the C.
@Loriad Can you ask your sa in Italy of they have it? I know it was originally supposed to launch Sep 3rd.

I don't have an SA. I will be traveling to Italy. I'm in the US. However, if it's supposed to launch September 3rd, that'll work!

When did Cartier first start producing the Santos chain? I’m glad that your experience has been that you are able to recoup more money with signed/designer pieces. Resale value depends on many factors and it is absolutely possible to get more than the scrap price of gold on non-designer gold jewelry (I can attest to this), but to each their own! At the end of the day, we each must determine for ourselves whether or not a luxury piece is worth the cost.

I think sometime in the 70's. It is very Iconic. Maybe not on insta and as popular as the love and I am ok with that :)
Where did you sell your non signed jewelry? I am trying to sell some gold and gemstone items and am having a hard time finding anyone to buy them. TY
