Actually, the YSL boutique is much closer than a NM. So I am planning to go there and see what they can do.... and I'll decide if I want to keep the bag or return it.
So was your 3rd one not good????
Yeah there was a pretty big tear on the strap

Yeah I think it will be better to go to the YSL boutique rather than ordering online from now on. Too bad the boutique doesn’t have promo codes you can apply

Def ask the boutique. I had an issue with a bag I purchased at Saks 6 months ago and after using it a handful of times I noticed a problem. Since there's no Saks within 4 hours from me, I went to the YSL store directly and they were super nice about it as a one time courtesy because there was a defect in the bag.
They suggested always shopping with them directly. I know we save money at the department stores but the quality control can be a hit or miss.

What was the boutique able to do for you about your bag?
I went to the boutique. They said they cannot do an exchange there since I didn't buy from them. They took photos of the defects and sent them in for evaluation. I am now waiting for what they say....

I honestly believe that a customer needs to inspect a bag in person before buying nowadays.

I’ve read a lot of these threads, and sometimes I almost think that the first bag is better than the subsequent exchanges.

I personally prefer to shop at an independent boutique rather than a department store; and im sorry this happened to you

Yes, I definitely learned my lesson. This was my first time ordering a designer handbag online and probably will be the last time.

I have an update.
I was going to accept the discount for keeping the damaged bag and I was going to see if YSL could do anything about it.
But when I called NM to accept the discount, this CS rep offered another chance. And I just got my 4th one and hopefully the keeper!

The leather looks great with no tears, scratches, or cracks.
The only thing I am now wondering is this folded part. All the previous bags I received came folded nicely in the middle. This one may just need to be broken in? but just wanted to check with you folks who have experience with good Loulou. I have to press on the sides to close the flap, though. It doesn't latch otherwise. And the chains don't slide in as nicely because of this side not folded in.
Oh and the chains didn’t come wrapped though the leather pieces came wrapped.

I hope this isn’t anything I should be worried about. But after three reruns, you can see I am just paranoid.

Thank you!

My bag looks like that on the sides too. I watched a number of Youtube reviews to see how normal this is. The strange folding is normal on the small LouLou. I am “officially” getting the bag for Christmas (it’s stored away for now) so I haven’t seen how the sides will relax with use.

That's good to hear.
What a nice Christmas gift :) Mine was a birthday gift that came over a month later with all the returns I had to go through.
