I went to the flagship store on Madison street yesterday......they got a lot of new poppy stuff......I got the liquid patent push lock satchel in cherry with my pce..........it is fabulous IRL!!! The color is amazing.......great for winter and no concern in bad weather!!! Plus it is sooooooo light weight........when I touch it....it doesn't feel cheap, thin patent..........I feel the patent is rich, thick and chic.............well, it really look good on me...........
But!!! When I got home, took a look at the cards n the purse....I see ####patent fabric###!!!!wow....I checked it on the coach.com......oh, no it is really patent fabric!!!!!!I feel bad! Cause I thought it was patent leather!!!(I usually love leather). .....and I remembered when I talked to the Sa at the store....I mentioned that the patent leather is good , thick this time..........
They didn't say anything about it....didn't tell me it is patent fabric................
I have no idea what is patent fabric...I tried to google it.....but no answer at all!!!
I love the purse......but the patent fabric made me feel bad......feel like I got something
cheap.....like pu leather.......you know......
Somebody help me out??? Maybe I shouldn't care about it's material if I really love the purse.....
But what's wrong with coach........????the price is 375.... So people spend 400 dollars and got something "fake patent leather"????
Help help help:roflmfao:

I feel that for the price it should be real leather. The Poppy patent satchel is the same price and real leather. I got it in ink and I LOVE IT! Good luck

Yeah!!!!! I know......i didnt see the patent satchel at the store ......probably on the second floor............ I got a rush shopping yesterday.............I love the quilted design on the new liquid patent satchel.........
The price is same...... That is not fair.......I really really want the purse in real patent leather!!!

Aimeng, I know how you feel, I once bought an expensive patent designer bag that looked so nice in the store, all black and shiny. But when I got it home I realized it was made from coated canvas, not leather. I really liked it, but I just couldn't spend that type of money for something that wasn't leather so I took it back. I've never regretted it either, because I know it would have always bothered me knowing it was canvas and not leather, and I'm glad I noticed it before I used it.

I remember reading something about this "patent fabric" on another thread. Maybe do a search on it? I can't even remember what it said but I do remember it explained what patent fabric is.

I just couldn't bring myself to pay $300+ for pleather. Coach is getting a little too big for their britches!

Think Proffashionista was talking about it. There has to be some reason they are charging so much...the quilting? Maybe the whole process of creating the patent fabric is complex?? They do look very pretty though and have a unique texture. But even the fabric bags have leather in them

I had a conversation about patent leather with a Coach outlet manager. They go to "Coach school" - and are trained extensively, just as the Coach full price store managers are. I was questioning why one of the panels on my cobalt Sophia was extremely wrinkled, and the other 3/4's of the purse are as smooth as glass. Maybe the rest of you patent experts know this - but I didn't realize the leather (cowhides, calf, whatever) are coated - bonded - with the layer of patent, which is a plastic-like manmade coating. After the leather pieces are made into "patent leather" - they are cut into the pieces to make handbags - and each handbag may have pieces from 5 (or more) different hides - and that's why you'll see different textures from front to back, or section to section, or strap etc.

So - I'm guessing "patent fabric" - is probably a durable fabric - probably like signature fabric - and then it's bonded with the manmade patent material, that makes it "Patent".

I always assumed "Patent" was ALL leather - stupid me - like maybe the leather is highly polished. I would have also assumed the liquid patent (gloss?) was all leather - but knowing it's fabric underneath, rather than leather - no way would I pay $400. Like Tracis30 said - "Coach is getting a little too big for their britches"....... but that's even being a little to kind when it's somewhat deceiving to the normal consumer - The highly trained expert Coach SA's should have explained the product before she took the OP's $$$$$!

Well, it is listed on the website as patent fabric. They clearly went out of their way to call it Liquid Gloss instead of patent which could be easily assumed to be leather.

As for the price point of patent fabric? There's another well known luxury brand that charges quite a bit more for coated canvas. Essentially, the same thing. And oddly enough, people buy it.

Personally, I think it's great to see Coach expanding their material options.

I have the same one (Bag twins!) . . . I see your point; however, for the detailing and the hardware plus the PCE, I was OK with the price. I think had it been patent leather, it would have been more. Not that I would not have preferred leather. Overall, I can overlook it because it is soooo cute but would not think bad of you in any way if you could not live with it knowing you were somehow cheated. Good luck on your decission!
