Coach is making a mistake by upping the prices so much. If Coach is trying to join the ranks of LV, Chanel, etc, they're wasting their time. I don't think that they're going to gain the luxury image they're aiming for by raising their prices. The people who can easily afford LV and Chanel will probably never see Coach as being on the same level as those brands, no matter how much the prices are raised. Coach is leaving its original target demographic (middle and upper middle class) and expecting to pick up a new demographic (the wealthy) who will likely never embrace Coach the way the original target demographic did.
Coach may also be seeking to take advantage of its fans by roping them in with the lower prices it charged a couple years ago and then raising prices to take advantage of their loyalty......and that may also backfire on them, because a lot of those people will probably just stop buying Coach because they don't like the prices.
