Someone has to make a profit, no? Even so, a little goes a very LONG way; especially for third world countries. It depends on the dollar value of a nation. It is rare for the proceeds of charity items to be 50% and above though.

Don't get me wrong, I do get where you're coming from, however. Most companies only do these charity purposes just so they can have a better 'image' in consumers' eyes. I learned this in business politics. But in this case, I get a ring that is much more cheaper than a gold version, plus I'm helping out in some way, makes me feel good inside anyhow. =)

Right, but I think the more they give (trust me, they're already making a killing on everything else) for such a thing, the better they look. For charitable purposes they should give all they make on this ring to the charity. Do more. The company can surely afford it.

Silver & ceramic do NOT cost $370

I agree. They're making a VERY good profit....even minus the $75

But with that said, it's better to give something than nothing

yeah i want to try it IRL, I've allways wanted a 3 band w/g but when i was searching for it i settled for a local jeweler with 1/2 carat of diamonds at several hundred less.

this could be an option anyone know when the sydney boutique is due to get them in? and how much they will be here

I totally agree with you Ame. In all honesty, they should give all of the profits to charity. It would be great for publicity.

But we need to keep in mind that we have the option of donating directly to charity, too. For some reason, people like to get something for themselves AND feel like they are helping a cause, so products like this are popular. I agree that the company could afford to give more of the proceeds to the cause, but each of us could also just skip the ring and give to the cause, too. In the cases of these products, both the companies and the consumers are at least a little bit selfish.

It's a nice ring. But I feel the charity thing is usually just publicity

I don't get the mentality that customers should get a ring, the charity gets all the proceeds and the designer gets nothing. Really?

Why not just mail $370 to a charity then. You don't need a free ring for making a contribution.

I also agree with ame. No offense to anyone who bought the ring but it turns me off that the company's using the name of charity to create positive PR for themselves. Even if they're not making a profit from the sale, they still get tax write-offs from "donating" to charity. And if they're making a profit from the rings, then I'm thoroughly disgusted.

I went to see the ring yesterday and I must say I don't totally love it.

I was hoping I would love it and buy it as my first Bulgari piece but seriously when put next to the "real" version, it can't compare.

For reference it is $3100 HKD.
