That sounds like a wonderful experience and exactly what I am hoping for when I am ready to go in for my first one! I love the feeling of being able to get an item after a long time of daydreaming, planning, and saving. Thank you for sharing. :)

No problem! :) I always think you appreciate something a lot more if you have to save for it and wait a while. Makes *that* moment all the more special!

I agree with the other posters about the bags being polar opposites. Also both seem wrong in their own way.

The question i pose to you is what is your lifestyle and how do you intend to use your bag? What scenarios?

Personally, for me the investment bag is one you can wear daily for most occasions. The boy bag is small, PS1 is very casual and the flap i more practical, but perhaps not if you do jot find it comfy to carry all day. Another bag may work better.

Thanks! After posting this thread I have also been looking at the Celine belt bag. The bag I have now is my perfect bag for everyday use. I can carry anything in this bag and it can be a cross body or tote. I am looking for something to add a little more to my outfits. I really just want a new bag, that won't feel "boring" with my already casual wardrobe, so maybe that means I'm looking for something more fashion forward? My lifestyle? Pretty average I guess? I work, travel for work, vacation once in a while, go out once or twice a week. I do not own private jets or anything. I was afraid of the fact that chanel bags might have the "upper east side" look. I don't want to look like I'm "trying to fit in to a category I'm not" I just want something that feels good/confident to wear. Or something that says "good taste". I have never really labeled a bag wearer to that category and have seen other younger ladies with those bags. I always thought they looked good. There are bags I do not like- I am not a fan of LV or coach for example. Since I'm a fan of alexander wang and acne studios, what bag would fit in with that category (since that category is where I feel most confident) I love art and fashion but (in case my OP didn't give it away) am new to the fashion world. Any other designer commendations are appreciated. :D

Woah sorry for the novel! Thoughts on these?

knickole, one bag to consider is the older style Givenchy Pandora. It's a premier bag with an edge- looks like the luxe quality that it is, but slips below the "brand-screaming" radar.
It's versatile in all the ways you describe for your current daily bag: all three carry-options, goes *anywhere* especially in black.

It sounds like you know what features function well for you. My one suggestion would be to look for a designer piece that meets those same criteria- that will work for you the way you need. The best high end bag is the one that fits who you are- works with you rather than against you- one you can use effortlessly as you live your amazing life.

There's a thread in Givenchy with lots of mod pics of TPFers with their Pandoras. The best/ only way to fully appreciate and judge whether this style might work for you is to see and feel and wear them in person. barneys has the best selection i've seen in stores. I had one - a medium in black goatskin with silver HW. Selling her is one of my biggest bag-regrets.

Good luck and enjoy the search!!!

Thank you! Every bit of advice helps and I always love learning about what else is out there. I have seen that bag before and it is an amazing bag, it's just not for me. Something feels wrong about getting a bag I'm not crazy about. I'm absolutely loving the Celine bags, but am still lusting after the Chanel, but after this thread have definitely changed my mind from classic flap to the boy bag. The one with the chains (no quilt) stole my heart. I think I'll wait until I find something just like it. :D

You're right about getting a bag you're not crazy about.

I've gotten bags I was crazy about -- yet that did not work as well for me as I wanted them to! It is possible to love a bag that is all wrong for you (just like with humans) :-) Again - enjoy your adventure in finding The One!

Thank you! This is great advice. I also highly appreciate every reply on this thread, it really has helped. I think a Celine or Givenchy might fit in more with my closet. Even though I love Chanel, I might not feel great about wearing it in the future. I'm absolutely looking forward to my next bag purchase! :D

I don't own any but I have seen and felt both. The PS bag will always look casual while Chanel flaps can be formal and casual. Please put that into your consideration 😉

That is a very good point!:goodpost::goodpost: I only like CHANEL bags in the smaller sizes but they are without doubt the perfect chameleon formal & casual bag. I can wear mine with shredded jeans, a smart skirt or even super dressy evening outfit.

Ha. I own Celine Belt and Givenchy Antigona. They are GORGEOUS bags. Simply gorgeous. Very versatile too. Can't tell you which one I love better. I have them in two different colors. Antigona is significantly cheaper because I got a huge discount when I bought it.

 the Boy and will be my next purchase, but the recent styles don't seem as attractive as the older ones.

I have been thinking about buying a Trapeze or Luggage, but many tPF members think they are a fading trend so I ended up buying a Belt instead. Still thinking though.

I have a black Chanel Classic Jumbo. I don't use it much but love it dearly. No an everyday bag yet a nice investment piece. Yes it can be dressed down but not a bag that you will carry for grocery shopping etc.

For me it is so difficult to decide between Antigona, Belt, Boy and Chanel Classic. I may go with Antigona because you can get it on sale at a very reasonable price.

No PS11 for me. A nice bag but may be a fading trend.

Thank you for the post! This makes me go back to Chanel. I guess I'm looking for a chameleon bag. :D I LOVE that look. Mixing jeans with a small bag that can be worn casual or dressy...this bag purchase for me will be THE bag purchase. I want something I can wear different ways that will still have a classic look. Still can't decide between a Celine, Givenchy, or Chanel bag. Very tough decision!

Thank you! So happy for you-those are beautiful bags! Also makes me satisfied to think I will be happy with any of those three. I also think the Trapeze is gorgeous! Those 3 mentioned in my previous post (celine, chanel, and givenchy) are my top picks right now. Glad I posted this thread.

Take a look at Ferragamo Sophia and Ferragamo Sookie - both classing and elegant and luxe - in the vein of what you are leaning toward...

I just got the Sofia and love it. Works for weekend and work. Works with lots of outfits and easy to carry. It is my most favorite bag I own. It works for me now and the 20 year older version. It would have worked for my younger self too.
