This surprises me actually, that the stock is underperforming. My MK store is always jammed packed. The customers are not browsing they are buying. Belk Dept store just expanded their MK dept TWICE in the past year.

With Coach I think people did not want to pay full price because the full price styles went to the outlet in a couple months. But from what I understand, the bags at MK outlet are Made for Factory bags, not full price deletes. With MK I usually wait for Dept store sales but I also don't mind paying full price for a bag I think will sell out and it usually does

My boutique only ever has a few customers at most inside but the outlet has a lot (nothing compared to Coach outlet though). I don't typically buy anything at the outlet because the deletes I like are sold full price there! I can get better deals at dept stores!

I think it depends where you live too. Some stores in certain locations are busy all the time. I also think many of us prefer to go to Macy's or other distributors to find sales. I wish this topic would just go away because it is all nonsense. MK is still really hot right now. eBay is a perfect example. I just got outbid on a bag that has 27 bids on it and my high bid was 227.00! Now I am going to have to raise my bid! lol!

I also sell on eBay, although I recently took a break, but I can tell you, I had ladies literally in bidding WARS, fighting over these bags! It was crazy. I never saw anything like it. This article if as full of beans as the people who wrote it. MK is still one of the top 10 designers of 2015.

From a business perspective this is very true. The numbers don't lie. The article mentions other aspirational brands like Juicy and Coach. We've seen them go down in popularity a lot the last few years. It doesn't mean they aren't quality. I'm wearing my Juicy sweats now!
There are a lot of brands that come and go like this, it's just the way the market works.

+1 And just because people are swarming your local store, you still see people carrying them, etc, doesn't mean they're "the brand" to have, anymore.

I don't think he helped himself with lots of "inspired" bags that make the brand seem even more aspirational.

None of this means my lambskin Susannah is going anywhere, lol.

^When I noticed more "inspired" bags being made, I had a feeling it would go the same way as Coach, because Coach did this too if I recall correctly ( maybe in a less obvious way)

OT I'm now lusting after that turquoise MK wallet I saw on the other thread!I still like MK, but it's a brand that is marketed towards a larger target audience and was just never meant to be premiere like LV or Chanel (who raise prices for the purpose of exclusivity as opposed to making items that are more affordable for the average person) Totally different business approach!
