[sarcasm]Sounds like NM hasn't been effected by the economy at all. Most places would do just about anything to get and keep customers. Good for NM...they actually have SO MUCH business they have to turn people away. [/sarcasm]

Hahahahaha. I loved this post. :p

Seriously, I find that a lot of the higher end boutiques and department stores have the crappiest customer service. I've never understood this... If I come into your store and want to spend a large amount of money, why would you treat me poorly or act as if you are better than me? How does that make me want to continue to be a loyal customer? I've had nothing but great experiences at Barneys, and less than positive ones at Saks and NM... Guess where I purchase all my CLs now..... ;)

The crappy CS and cba attitude is a consequence of being too large. That's why I prefer to shop at boutiques or smaller online stores. A lot of the times, the larger department stores like NM can't even get the name of a style or color right on their website.

You should definitely call them and they need to apologize to you. But they'll probably come up with some BS excuse like "software glitch" -.-

^ ABSOLUTELY AGREED.

I have always been treated like either a thief of a peasant whenever I have been in Neiman's. I don't know what it is about that place... Barneys? Best CS ever! Love love love Barneys! But NM is pretty terrible.

I went in there a few months back and bought a pair of RR jeans. I spaced out on the fact that they ONLY accept cash/Amex/NM charge, so I pulled out my Visa and handed it to the cashier. You would think I had slapped her grandmother in the face the way this woman looked at me. She said, "Oh, um, perhaps you have never shopped here, but we don't accept.... THAT.... method of payment. You'll need to shop somewhere else."

Ugh. I would hate to deal with that kind of SA. Those are the times I would have wished I had an AMEX Black Card just to whip out "oh you mean this AMEX?":p

I recently had a disgusting experience with NM.com.... They are idiots!!! they just ignore you when you are on the Live Chat and give you some lame answers, their favorite line "No, we can't. Now, is there anything else we can do for you? Thank you for shopping at Neiman Marcus Bye Bye " it seems like they are desperate to end the conversation!!!! Ohhh Lord... every time I remember, it makes me mad again

Now, shopping at the local store hasn't been a bad experience for me (so far)... Even though, I always try to talk to the same people (tryting to build a relation) I do have to admit that some of the employees are "snubbish"...If I walk into the store after working out.. I can feel them staring at me like I'm Tarzan!!! hahaha and I'm like, I'm just wearing sneakers and T-Shirt, I'm not naked, with a monkey on my back and chewing some bananas!!!!.. For God Sake!!, I don't understand them sometimes is like they need to be told "You JUST WORK HERE (they make you bring a see thru bag with your personal stuff because the managers don't even even trust you)... You don't own the :censor: store!!!"

Ha! That is the funny part... I had plenty of cash on me that particular day and could have purchased the jeans.... Nope. :p

Good for you! I can't stand poor customer service and crappy attitudes. Even if you're a cashier at Wal-Mart you should have a pleasant attitude and good manners. I had a girl once that didn't say ONE SINGLE WORD the entire transaction. :wtf:

That is just ridiculous.

I have never understood the whole rude SA scenario. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 9 times out of 10 these people work on a commission basis. Now, if I were in retail, I would be WORKING IT to get that commission - I don't care what the potential client looks like, I would just assume every person who walks into my store is going to be a sale.

People inherently want to be catered to, especially when making a major purchase like a $3k bag or a $1k pair of shoes. Is it so much to ask that SAs are polite and helpful?

^ Agreed!!! I am NEVER shopping NM ever again!!! I don't care what kind of sales you have, or that you are a TX company. It's the opposite! I grew up in TX, and if a freaking business from TX doesn't show some Southern Hospitality, you are doing it wrong!

HAHA!:lolots:

I can't really understand the general snooty SA. Do they get pleasure out of acting that way? Otherwise, WHY do they insist on being nasty to people every day? I mean wouldn't that just make someone miserable themselves?

I'm not giving an excuse as to why they act the way they do, just saying that from my past experience as a "buyer" of a very high end store (not in the US) they behave in this manner due to the vicious cycle they are in. The customers, not all but a lot of them, are A$$..... and treat the associates like dirt. Some of the things I've witnessed are beyond shocking. So, it's a cycle of I'll (the customer) treat you (<being the Associate) like dirt, and vice versa. The environment is so down right miserable and unhappy. That's my explanation. Furthermore, do you really think these workers for NM are treated well and are happy? I'd say no on both accounts. From the moment you step foot into the store you can feel the mood shift drastically. So sorry you went thru this. I haven't shopped at Neimans (Needless Markup):graucho: for years, so I'm a little surprised they haven't caught up with the times, ya know.

^^So true.

Customers are certainly not angels either. Back in college, I used to work in a store that's "notorious" for bad customer service. However, alot of customers will go out of their way to make your day miserable or they'll take out their anger on you if they've had a bad day. The worst customers are usually the ones who pretend to have alot of money or the gold diggers who married into money (yes it's that obvious). I'm sure some of the snoots who go into NM are even worse so while it's no excuse for the SA to be as***, I can empathize a little.

That was a good laugh to break up my hectic day.
