These diamonds look HUGE! Don't think they need any additional boost in size. They look greAT on you.

Due to large Diamond size, the prongs are not very apparent, so it does not matter if the setting is three or four prong. I would stick with what you have. As Hermesaholic said, more prongs are safer.

Glad you found your sweet spot of I/Si1 color/clarity combination.

I am happy for you.

Thank you for your kind words again.
You are absolutely right, the number of prongs do not really matter in this size and thank goodness I have large backings to prevent them from drooping down. I can't bear the thought of parting with them in the foreseeable future, so will live with the current setting for now.

Those studs are my dream studs!

Thank you! It is indeed a dream comes true for me too. Very grateful for having them :)

Update: Received my items!
Verdict:
Super happy with the diamonds. They are absolutely eye clean even upon close inspection with naked eyes despite being SI1. It was difficult to spot any inclusion even with 30x LED illuminated loupe. Sparkling white, can't tell these pair of I color apart from my other E & G color diamond solitaires. The fire and brillance are amazing, they are excellent cut and I tried to stay as close as possible to the ideal cut specs but did make a little compromised in order not to stray too far from my budget.
Unfortunately, the ear studs setting came out wrong. I ordered 3 prong martini but received 4 prong basket instead. A bit bummed out on that. However, the perfect mesmerizing diamonds more than make up for this hiccup and I don't want to part with them to get it rectified!!
Thanks again to ame, Christiflora & honhon for your expertise and good advice. Without you, I would never pull the trigger on this nerve-wrecking, sight-unseen cross-borders biggest online purchase of mine!
Just gorgeous and congrats!
The basket setting looks nice in your ear...no droop! But if you decide on a martini setting you can have them made with 4 prong...I have a pair.
4 prong is perfect and secure for a larger carat weight, IMHO.

Thanks skyqueen!
I have large backs on, which is why they don't droop. My friend has similar size in 6 prong martini setting and they droop too if not for the large backs. JA has very good metal workmanship, the posts and construction look really well-made. It's such a waste to dismantle them and I'm unwilling to part with my stones anytime soon. Will KIV your suggestion for my next project and enjoy the ear studs for now :)

First, congrats on your gorgeous earrings! They are beautiful on.:smile1:

Secondly, sorry your order didn't come as expected. How are you liking the setting now? Are the baskets low profile? They look like they might be. I have both the three prong martini setting and the low profile basket setting. I prefer the low profile basket setting for bigger diamonds and the three prong martini setting for smaller diamonds due to comfort.

Yes...the elephant backs are a must have for most post earrings, IMO. The 6 prong martini setting sounds interesting...............

Thanks Shopgirl, I don't know whether they are considered low profile; they are definitely higher than my other 2tcw pair in martini setting. However, having said that, considering this 4ctw pair is doubled in size compared to my 2tcw pair so the depth will naturally be higher. Hence, I suspect the martini setting for this size stone will probably be similarly higher as well. The metal & prongs do not look obvious when worn based on the pics, so I'm fine with the overall setting now.

Stunning earrings!! They sit beautifully on your ears. [emoji7]

They look nice and low on your ear and no droop.

Enjoy your earrings and wear them in good health!:smile1:

Update after a year...I have just sent my studs in to reset to 6 prongs martini. Love it!

Hi kewave, these look absolutely gorgeous on you! Wanted to ask how you liked the 6 prong martinis vs the previous 4 prong basket setting. Is it more comfortable?

Is there noticeable size difference? And how does it sit on your ear compared the previous setting? I am considering studs of similar size and curious how you like yours!
