Soooooo, my first avenue was via email with LV. They said they couldn't do anything. I then reached out to a SA I have worked with before. He told me to bring it in. I couldn't- as he's 4 hours from me. He strongly recommended I take it to the closest store, which was still 2 hours away. So I did. 2 hour wait to get in. Aannnnnnd they said they couldn't fix it, because it is attached to the entire sheet of vinyl around the bag. They looked at me and just said sorry, we can't help you. So so so upsetting. My husband bought me this bag, and I've carried it 3 times. Carefully. UGH.

Her damage location and yours are very different I think? They removed the bottom and sewed on a new piece. The location of your damage is difficult to repair by LV. There are more pieces that would need to be reattached ....I think you should get a piece of canvas and glue it on to blend in and maybe wear the damaged side by your body not facing out...It stinks it’s at a weird place that makes it difficult to repair...I’m so sorry...

Look up Bedo’s Leather Works on YouTube (no affiliation). I have seen some videos where he manages to perform miracles! There is also Rago Brothers. I wouldn’t see on a patch until you have exhausted all other possibilities. I bet someone can remove the bottom and take it up past the damaged area! Good luck ❤️

Oy- that is amazing work! But I can only imagine the cost! I’ll reach out though. Thank you.

I am very sorry that they are not able to fix your bag. I know you are upset, as I would be too. Maybe a travel patch could go there, possibly somewhere where you and your husband have gone and have a good memory.

They sell these and others on ebay. 1629515699120.png

I was also going to say Rago Brothers. I haven't had work done by them but I know some preloved sites recommend them.

I have seen YouTube videos from repair shops like handbag clinic. I was thinking maybe they could un-sew the bottom and then fold the ripped part along the line and re-sew the bottom a bit higher. You would lose a couple of inches in height but could be a fix.

Oh no! I’m so sorry this happened. I was actually thinking about this the other day — how whenever I am ready to travel again, I’m not sure that I would be comfortable taking LV with me as a carry-on. I certainly would never check LV, but I’ve previously used either a backpack or a Keepall as carry-on, and a small crossbody as my personal bag. However I’ve always felt nervous about the way some of the airport workers handle bags at security!

As for fixing up your bag, I was going to suggest leather paint. I’m not sure if that would put the lining at risk of eventually ripping and then there would be a hole in your bag. If you don’t carry loose small items like pens etc, I would use brown leather paint so that it’s less noticeable. If you do have loose sharp items in your bag then maybe a patch would be better. I think that might look cute!
