Necklace doesn't suit me - advice

When I placed an order for Guilloche YG earrings, I was also informed by my SA that there are going to be no returns or exchanges since the order is being placed for me. I don't think it's that unusual. The idea behind placing an order rather than picking up a product readily available in the store, is that it has come specifically for you and in those cases the assumption is that you really wanted the item enough to want to order it without even having tried on.

My suggestion would be that you contact your SA and request a credit note. I don't think getting in touch with customer service will help as the online boutique and store boutiques for VCA are seperate entities that operate differently. Even their stocks are different! So is there exchange and refund policy.
I am very surprised that this happens, not that I don’t believe you. I’ve ordered standard pieces and my SA didn’t even need to tell me that it’s not returnable. It always was returnable for credit. I thought VCA policy was enforced consistently throughout the country if not world. That is a shame some places don’t allow a return for credit. Seems pretty unfair. Are we sure that it’s not an SA not providing correct information to a less informed client?

It could be, but honestly I wasn't too bothered by it as I definitely wanted the earrings and wasn't in two minds about it. Generally this would have not sit well with me. This was an exception.

My SA at the boutique always tells me I can exchange (no refund but store credit) for any piece, even I order or MTO pieces even. Not sure for SO because never SOed yet. I would not accept to order otherwise a piece I never could try on. Even I like VA guilloché earrings for example (and I bought them) I never could try them on before ordering. So you never know (if the earrings are too heavy or don’t work well with your own earlobe and pierced lobe etc …). In fact she feels quite sure that they can sell the piece anyway. And I saw a rejected MTO WG onyx bracelet this year so they actually permit exchange

But I know that some other brands do tell clients no refund no exchange and you cannot even try the piece because of low stock (Buccellati for example) : which I really think is outrageous because we pay extra money for these kind of jewelry …

I always purchase remote and SA has always said I can return if item doesn’t work for me. I don’t know if it’s Store Credit or Credit Card refund as I never returned anything ever.

Same for me, and in that case it is a refund (I know from buying 4 carnelian guilloche bracelets in the past to choose the right color on the instruction of my SA), this is USA. The 3 I didn’t choose were my only returns, but they were refunded to my cc.

Thanks for the replies. I was misinformed by the SA as I checked the receipt and it only mentioned no refunds. However the store manager refused an exchange as I had worn the necklace when collecting it.
I think they are treating you quite unfairly. Your SA lied to you. I’m sorry s/he was deceitful. Report the SA to corporate. This person should not be in luxury sales, or sales at all.

Wearing the necklace is why they are refusing the return and rightly so. It’s used even if you wore it for short time. I would recommend never wearing a piece from store for this very reason.

💯 agree with @missie1

Unfortunately you cannot return or exchange an item once you have worn it. I don’t recall this being in your initial fact pattern which might have changed subsequent replies to your inquiry. What you are now describing is a return of a used piece due to buyers remorse (necklace doesn’t suit you)

For this reason, I do not think you were misinformed by the SA or SM. The item is unsaleable once it is worn*. Many TPFers would not want to be the unknowing customer who bought this piece as new after it had been returned.

* as far as I know exceptions might be made for one of a kind high jewelry that is loaned to someone famous or modeled for an event, but I’m only guessing (as I don’t know how this is normally handled) If however VCA got the reputation for taking ordinary pieces once they were worn, I think it could do damage to their reputation

Hi all,

I bought a sweet alhambra in hammered RG - I had tried on the sweet carnelian and liked the RG but wanted something a bit different. The SA said they could order the all rose gold but there would be no returns or exchanges, I agreed to the order anyway. Now it has arrived, it looked nice in store but in the natural light the colour pulls orange and doesn't suit me. I would have exchanged for something gold but the SA said it was not possible. Is there anything I can do? And if not, what is the best way to sell?
My friend had a similar problem. They let her exchange it for something more expensive and pay the difference. This was in Dubai.
