Hi all,

I bought a sweet alhambra in hammered RG - I had tried on the sweet carnelian and liked the RG but wanted something a bit different. The SA said they could order the all rose gold but there would be no returns or exchanges, I agreed to the order anyway. Now it has arrived, it looked nice in store but in the natural light the colour pulls orange and doesn't suit me. I would have exchanged for something gold but the SA said it was not possible. Is there anything I can do? And if not, what is the best way to sell?

Try

Several TPFers have recommended this site to sell or consign.

(I have not used them personally and am not affiliated)

Good luck

Thanks all for the replies and recommendations. Seems like I will have to sell it. Do you think I could try going to another store/calling? I am probably missing something but I don't understand why I couldn't exchange for say the gold MOP sweet which is cheaper?

Bc it’s possible that combo doesn’t sell well/ demand is not as high, so they may be stuck with it. Probably why they hesitated to order it without the guarantee that you would take it. I doubt another VCA would let you exchange bc each store prefers to sell exchange its own stock.

Was it a special order and that’s reason for no exchange? Never heard of that especially with so much inventory not readily available to try on.
Agree. I have not shopped in every VCA boutique throughout the world but I’ve bought overseas and throughout the U.S. and the policy has always been return for credit is fine. No returns except the ones I bought through NM. So if there are countries where no returns and no credit upon exchange is the official policy, that is news to me. @oxfordgem can you share what country and what boutique you purchased from? Did you buy from an independent boutique, which I have done once, which was neither a standalone or from NM. The policy was exchange was ok. Returns were not, given it was a stock piece.

Personally, I believe the SA should have accommodated your exchange. Since it’s not a custom-made piece, there’s no valid reason to refuse an exchange or offer store credit. I wouldn’t continue working with that SA. If you purchased directly from VCA, I recommend calling their customer service to explain that you pre-ordered a piece you hadn’t seen in person, and the color didn’t suit you. They may be able to assist with the exchange.

When I placed an order for Guilloche YG earrings, I was also informed by my SA that there are going to be no returns or exchanges since the order is being placed for me. I don't think it's that unusual. The idea behind placing an order rather than picking up a product readily available in the store, is that it has come specifically for you and in those cases the assumption is that you really wanted the item enough to want to order it without even having tried on.

My suggestion would be that you contact your SA and request a credit note. I don't think getting in touch with customer service will help as the online boutique and store boutiques for VCA are seperate entities that operate differently. Even their stocks are different! So is there exchange and refund policy.

I'm not 100% certain that the customer service will help, buy it's worth a try. I had a similar situation with a Cartier purchase (different issue, but similarly unhelpful SA) and the customer service actually did help.
