My LA Girl! Yes, I wore my nameplate and big bamboo earrings all during the 80’s/90’s. Good times…That’s interesting, I never knew she had a nameplate. When I think of nameplates, I think of more urban origins. I’m from LA and nameplates and bamboo earrings were a hip hop staple in the 80’s and 90’s amongst the black and Latino communities. I think it was popular on the east coast as well amongst the same communities.
I love this! Not a nameplate but initial necklace with a bit of bling. Easy to wear or layer. I have a pair of Stephanie Gottlieb earrings and love them...take advantage of the sale if you find something you love, she doesn't have many sales!

Would love to see it!I grew up in the 70's/80's as well (graduated HS in 1983) and I had a nameplate necklace that my parents gave me for my 16th birthday. It was gorgeous. It was solid 14K gold and it said "Suzy" (I don't wear it anymore because I started going by Suzanne once I hit 18). But I got one in WG and diamonds that says "Suzanne" about 5 years ago. It's really pretty. I'll post a pic if I think about it later on.

A lot of girls got these necklaces for their Bat Mitzvah's in the mid-70s in Toronto.I grew up in the 70's/80's as well (graduated HS in 1983) and I had a nameplate necklace that my parents gave me for my 16th birthday. Carrie’s nameplate necklace was a pretty big deal on the show…she lost it once and eventually found it in the lining of a purse. Many, many similar necklaces were sold because of Carrie!Yes, Carrie's was iconic.![]()
I love that. I’m also Jewish and a boyfriend when I was 19 bought me a custom made nameplate necklace with my name in Hebrew (Shoshanna). I loved it and wore it all the time but it ended up breaking in half. It was really delicate. I was really disappointed.A lot of girls got these necklaces for their Bat Mitzvah's in the mid-70s in Toronto.
It’s lovely you should wear it more often! Here is my current nameplate necklace. I love it, but barely wear it. Don’t know why. This thread reminds me that I should wear it more often.

I am so sorry to hear that it broke. Maybe get a replacement one day?I love that. Sounds beautiful!I have a name necklace in Arabic calligraphy. It was custom made for me by the jeweler who made several calligraphy designs of my name and yet I couldn’t choose for awhile. I wanted something very artistic and hard to read which is typical for Arabic calligraphy in general.
It’s in white gold and diamonds.
To Arab speaker it looks like calligraphy and to non Arab it looks like just a beautiful diamond piece.
