My tiny collection - going minimalist for 2016 :)

Wow! I can't imagine purging down to 3 handbags!:giggles:

But, the 3 you chose are interesting. I would definitely choose a black bag for work and dressier occasions, a casual tote (check, with the hologram) but for the third bag I would chose something smaller like a cross body or a shoulder bag for hand-free situations. :p

I decided to "thin out" my clothes closet a couple of weeks ago--mainly because I had way too many things and couldn't find anything! It was oddly refreshing to look into my closet and be able to see things without the clutter.

Good luck with your endeavor!:smile1:

I know the Boxer is a weird third choice, but every time I pick it up I feel so much joy, I simply can't bear to part with it :) but I do need a Crossbody!

This is awesome! I've been diversifying with other brands but slowly downsizing too. I've gone from over 50 bags to 12. About half are Coach and the others are spread between LV, Gucci and Balenciaga. It feels amazing to actually use the ones I have regularly instead of letting them sit. And, the buying/selling cycle was getting really old. I'm hoping to cut some more but I'm pretty happy where I am at this point. I'm left with the ones I don't know if I can give up but maybe I will over time. I think that's the key - is finding a balance that works for you but definitely quality over quantity in my book..

Agreed - it's all about balance. The book I read recommended going through every item in your house and taking the time to hold it - if it brings you joy, keep it, otherwise it goes. So if those 12 bags all bring you joy, you're doing great! :)

I'm quite minimalist in wardrobe and home furnishings by nature, but at one point I had close to 40 Coach bags. I found myself buying bags I LIKED and not necessarily bags I would USE on a regular basis. Now I'm much more picky about what I buy - I only buy it if it will be used in regular rotation. I'm down to about 12 bags, all styles and colors I use regularly, and that feels just right. Bags are really my only "girly" thing. I don't do makeup, clothes, jewelry, or any of that stuff. I like the variety of being able to pick a fun bag to go with my very boring wardrobe each day. :)

A common problem, it's okay to like a bag without owning it lol........................................................,.

Thanks so much, everyone! I have a Crossbody that I'm getting rid of, but I have her one last shot today - vachetta Willis: it's just too small for me! So the quest will continue :) I bought an awesome wall hook to display my purses today... And my three key fobs, haha! Crab, reindeer, and bunny with heart glasses. This makes me so happy I can't describe it -my big collection that used to be stuffed in a closet is now just ones I adore and hanging in my bedroom for me to admire like a work of art anytime I want to! You could be talking about me with that statement. I'm down to 11 or 12 bags and I've pared my slg's down to a handful......and I may not be finished yet.

I'm selling what will sell and donating the rest to friends and family :) I donated bags of clothes and books already, and I am mostly donating except for jewelry (which I traded in one big lot of unworn pieces for one piece that I will wear all the time).

Thank goodness. You wrote a couple times about throwing out and I was hoping you were donating!

I've been doing that slowly. It's hard to get rid of stuff sometimes. Although I donated 10 or 12 kitchen sized garbage bags of clothes to the local women's shelter. That felt really good! I figure the whole thing is an on-going process.
