oh my goodness markova...you are making me want one so bad! I am so close to buying the marked up so kelly on ebay. my SA told me about it a while ago, but I wasn't interested because of the lack of strap (i have a toddler:)...now after seeing your pictures, I think I need it!!! does anyone know if it is even possible to get one from the H store rather than the resellers on ebay? or if H would consider doing a special order for a leather strap or canvas strap? Thanks in advance. Also, Markova thank you for sharing your divine pictures!!!

I was wondering if in the future, a bag treated like this would be accepted at H spa? I have heard with some treatments they will refuse to spa a bag. Is this an acceptable product/treatment to H?

Markova, have you treated (spa) other bags before the Kelly? I have the same blk box kelly (not so blk hardware) and a box constance, but I'm afraid to do them for fear of ruining them. I also have togo and swift Birkins, would you do it on that? I guess what I'm asking is should I practice on other bags first before I touch my H babies?

chanellove21, Hermès didn't make a strap for the SO Black because they couldn't guarantee how well the hardware would hold up with the metal-on-metal action. I'm not missing the strap at all, and if I need to carry it on my shoulder, I will just use a scarf or a twilly.

Fach, tPF members who did the Docride Treatment on their bags have reported no problems with getting them accepted at the H spa. This is not an agressive treatment and does not coat or change anything about the bag beyond saturating it with more oils and waxes - which disappear completely into the leather and leave no residue. I showed my treated Kelly at my H store, and the SA's were amazed.

goodlife, I've used Blackrock Leather n' Rich on my orange Clemence and on my Toile/Barenia Birkins, and both subsequently were sent to spa. I also treated a 1964 Kelly, but that one doesn't need to go to spa now. I got the Obenauf's especially for the waterproofing qualities, as recommended by our own dear docride. If I hadn't already experienced pulling the straps all the way out to the back on the other three bags, I would have really not dared to do it to my SO Black Kelly - because it takes some coaxing and tugging. But if you have any questions, ask Doc on her thread - she's the expert!

do you have any idea what you've done to me? your pictures have created an obsession...so much so that I bought one today at my local H store! It is crazy because I thought they'd be snatched up or assigned to VIP customers by now. I feel like the luckiest gal right now :)!!! I have to find my camera wires...but as soon as I do I'll show you the goods!

I still haven't found my camera wires, but this is the best I could do...my new 32 SO Black Kelly (snapped this picture using my mac air photo booth hehe)....Does anyone have any suggestions on an all or mostly black scarf from hermes so that I can use it as a shoulder strap. :) Thank you in advance.

Once a brans new BBK has been treated, when will it require additional treatments? Do you have a schedule for treating your lovely bags, or is this a one time treatment? Thank you again for taking the time to share your vast knowledge :flowers:

I was reading reviews by people who used the obenauf's for outdoor boots, and they said they used it once each year/winter season. This post has made me order both products today.

This sounds like a pretty good idea! I'm no good with scarves, but I am sure the scarfies on tpf will give good recommendations. Any black colourway scarves in the SS2011 collection?

I have an old 2006 Red Berries in black colourway, just for reference only. It is not for sale. One of my very first scarves I bought from my H store. :smile1: Just want to share that I think your idea will work. :flowers:
