she probably just didn't know any better. KVZ might be the only designer name she's heard, so she threw it out there. I wouldn't be offended... at least she complimented it!!

ITA- To her 100.00 on a bag seems like a lot- So in reality she was comparing your bag to something that she likes, and thought was to be of good quality.

I'm just glad you didnt:faint: (faint) lol when she said that- side note- how cute is that smilie :p

Hee hee, this thread's so funny!

I agree that the woman who complimented you was trying to be sweet, and it's perhaps best to just laugh it off, MJ... ;)

But then again, I have to say that I have never disliked a line of bags as much as I loathe KMZ's. Since the moment I saw them, in fact (and all my bag's aren't necessarily as expense as hers, either). I imagine that she is laughing all the way to the bank, tho.

I guess it's the thought that counts! I really, really don't like KVZ bags - in fact, my best friend teases me about it everytime we go shopping and see one. I dunno, most of the ones I've seen look like someone took a Juicy Couture bag, put it in a blender, and stitched the bits together.

On a side note - Lexie, I also live in "Smallville, USA" where no one would recognize any of my RM's. I'd probably have to get into Nashville before someone recognized the brand.

^:roflmfao:

Perfect, perfect description! KVZ is like Juicy Couture on crack!

I've never heard of Kathy Van Zeeland so I had a look and ... :wtf: and the logo... They DO look like crazy Juicy bags and Guess bags funked up together...

But back to the situation, I think she WAS trying to compliment your bag, though the choice of comparison could've been different :thinkin:. Some people jsut don't know much or care about designer brands and goods - maybe it's a good thing not to care - it makes life so much simpler.. and cheaper

I desise KVZ bags... haha... NOTHING to do with the prices I am NOT a bag snob, I just think they look gross and kind of gaudy.

IMO RM bags look the exact OPPOSITE of KVZ bags... I think RMs are very classy and NOT flashy.

So I had to check out what these KVZ bags looked like after reading this thread and ITA with everyone -- the bags are much blingier than RM bags. Also (this is sort of OT) but I found this clutch by KVZ that looks just like the HH mercer clutch to me, no????

KVZ's husband is B. Makowsky (probably spelled wrong) and I know he makes a bag that resembles the Nikki.

I have to say I agree, they are kind of gaudy. I think KVZ bags look like they have a big flashy hood ornament on them.

hahaha my fiance teases me about KVZ bags constantly too (finally read all the posts in here). They are literally EVERYWHERE, and for some reason I just HATE them so much. I am a huge victoria's secret fanatic and I opened up the latest catalog...... and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHE'S EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!! VS started selling them!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha. She's taking over the world! :yucky:

Back about 4 years ago...I was 20 and a junior and college. I used to buy Coach and when I couldn't afford it, I sometimes got Kathy Van Zeeland! Although the Kathy Van Zeeland bags were not real leather, they were really cute and really a good price for a college student. I used to have two adorable ones, very simple and got so many complimennts.

Flash forward even two years later, I started to want to puke at some of her designs and all the scary things hanging off of bags! Obviously, Kathy is no RM or any other real leather brand...but she had a time where she could have at least been cute. I am not sure why she got so tacky. Now when I see some of her bags on QVC, I can't even believe the same person designed the bags tha designed that bags i used to have.
