My new DE Speedy B30 didn't have a bad smell. It just smells like leather 
They do use fish oil in leather production. Not sure about LV. I know I had an leather purse that went moldy. My ex cleaned it with wd40 ( degreaser ) and it cleaned it and made the leather beautiful. The smell was terrible though for weeks. It's made from fish oil ��

Just bought a new Speedy 35 in DE and it also has a strong chemical scent. My previous LV items never had that smell (DE & Mono). Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but all my previous LV items were made in France. The Speedy that smells toxic is made in the USA. Perhaps, they use different chemicals in the USA, which are prohibited in France. Just an hypothesis…
I purchased a Sarah Wallet in DE 4 years ago and its Made in Spain. I tried everything. It still stinks lol. It's my only LV item with that chemical smell.
I think this might be an issue with DE bags..by Speedy 25 DE had a very strong chemical smell for several months before it went away
