My First Ever Dooney & Bourke Bag

Hello! I haven't been on the forum in a minute but alas this social distancing thing has made me restless. Sunday morning had me channel surfing on my couch when I came across the Today's Special on HSN. I loved the look of the Camden Nylon Hobo Bag but I tried to talk myself out of it. I had been doing so well and had broken my bag habit from the late 00's/early 10's of buying all the bags that I loved you see. Would I really break my streak of no buying handbags for how many years now?

So yeah, 2-3 hours later I went and checked out the Taupe version (which was the initial color that caught my eye) and the rest as they say is history. I received the bag on Tuesday or Wednesday (I can't remember) and oh my gosh! I love it! It's neutral and basic (as a self proclaimed basic b* it was right up my alley) and I fell hook, link and sinker. Ha. Anyways, that's a lot of words. I didn't mean to go on so much.

@lavenderjunkie thank you so much!!! i too, normally go for a leather handbag but this one is amazing. the leather trim smells amazing too. lol - i know that probably sounds insane but yes, my last big purchase was back in 2013/2014 and it was my LV Damier Ebene Neverfull but I don't think I even went on here to post about it.

No worries about your buying habit! I have no room to judge. It's a slippery slope for me!

Dee.... after buying that first Dooney black/black nylon handbag.... I bought a second, in khaki.. I was that impressed with the quality of the materials and the construction.

I've never ventured into LV. I can appreciate the designs and quality when I watch youtube videos.... but.... I'm an admitted leather handbag snob. Those 2 Dooney nylon handbags, came after many decades of collecting leather handbags and the need for an occasional lighter weight option. I own one coated canvas.... that along with coated leathers... are just not my thing. But I can appreciate that everyone enjoys different styles and materials. No judgments.... it's great we all have choices.

And natural, untreated Vachetta leather and I do not play well together.
Love the look, but......first use and mine manage to get stained with water or something else. It's happened too many times. Don't blame the leather.... must be me. Good thing it hasn't limited my handbag options.... lots of alternatives.

THIS is exactly what attracted me to this bag. The lightness I mean. Years of lugging heavy bags around New York City (admittedly, I have moved away from my hometown) but the intent is the same. I wanted a lighter bag with the ability to still carry all my necessities (or what I deem to be a necessity). Ha.
