My Experience with the "Letter"

Wow I am so sorry this happened to you. It kind of scares me now becuase I have been buying so much stuff I usually got to the outlet once or twice a month and purchase something although they have all been one of each item it still scares me. I just wonder how they determine who gets a letter and who does not. I love Coach and I would die if I could not buy bags I have never resold anything a day in my life I love collecting them even if I don't use them any more I just love to look at them. I hope it works out for you I surely would call corporate with the pics of your collection. And if you have to go down so does the SA that was rude to you.

I am nervous too...I frequently buy outlet bags and leave the tags on them until I use it...if in the meantime I find something I like better or they didn't have before...I will return it...there is nothing wrong with that...I always have the reciepts and usually end up spending more anyways!!! Why do they care? They still have my money and then some! If they have a return policy that limits your returns then fine...but they don't! I would be very irate if I couldn't shop at coach anymore just because I have a hard time making up my mind!!! GRRR!:cursing:

This is me to a "T" as well!!! Whenever I return, it's always because I found something 'better' that they didn't have initially when I was there on the previous visit, so I'm always re-buying MORE than what I originally returned. Keeping fingers crossed I never reach 'that point' and get "the letter".....

oh yeah- also wanted to add that I've NEVER sold a thing on e-bay from my personal collection (or otherwise), and I have two FULL closets of Coach to prove it! Need to put myself on a bag ban!!

I agree that you should call corporate. The system does not work the way it should. I'd be interested to find out how that turns out. I almost want to get the letter just so I can challenge it. I want to know if they'd overturn a decision like that if you sent them pictures of your collection. I understand why they do it and I don't think I buy enough from them to get a letter, but I want to believe that they'd reverse a decision like that.

Honestly, buying more than 3 of the same wristlet around Christmas is not the same as buying 5 of each bag all year long. Its messed up that you got stuck in that situation and you should certainly fight it tooth and nail. Send them a picture of your closet. They will lose a ton of business if they keep doing that to loyal customers and right now they can use all the customers they can get.

If they're going to send you a letter for buying more than 3 of something, then it should be enforced at the outlets in the first place. If a SA tells you that its ok, then it should be ok. I strongly discourage people from reselling for profit on eBay and support Coach's actions to prevent it, but not at the expense of their regular customers. If they want to limit purchases, then they should limit them instead of playing around with SAs reporting people who they think buy too much.

I'm also all for the suggestion that Coach send out warnings instead of just "the letter." It would be much better if they just flagged your account and restricted you from buying more than 3 of an item at once, sort of like how they restrict you from doing receipt-less returns with the other notice someone on this forum got.

i am exactly the same way!!! i keep tags because i am not really sure of some things i buy..usually on impulse!!
you should see how much writing and boxing is on my receipts!!!!:p

I don't understand why Coach would do this, it seems to me that they're having a lot of issues concerning outlets. First of all, if they don't want so many people to sell marked down products on ebay or elsewhere, maybe they should stop sending stuff to outlets so quickly after release. Second if they can afford to mark down products so much at outlets, why not reduce the FP of items. This would limit what goes to outlets because more people might be willing to buy at boutiques also they might not have to reduce items something like 90% just to get them out. It's their own fault that people will buy mass quantities at significantly reduced prices from outlets and then turn around and sell them for profit. I think it's totally uncalled for, for them to be sending out these "letters" or blacklisting people, instead they should be changing their policies.

Collector or person trying to make a profit, the problem isn't with them, the problem is with Coach and this so called "letter" isn't the solution.

I would definantly call corporate! First I would let them know about the SA's that you had experiences with because they are the face of the company in the store there is no reason to be rude at someone for spending their own money and if that is the people they want representing the brand then they are loosing on that end because as much as I love Coach my experience in the store really dertermines wether or not I would like to keep my hard earned money going to that store. I love to walk out of a store feeling euphoric from my experience with the products, selection, and employees. Me just being me I would have said something to the SA right away when she started whispereing to the other SA because it's RUDE. Moral of the story contact corporate!
