Hi,
I am new to this thread. I have read it before but have only posted once--yesterday. I just wanted to share my own personal experience and give my opinion on what "drives" the "letter".
My background--I am 39yrs old--Married--One child--I work part-time. I have sold some things on ebay before but like the rest of you it has been my own personal things that I just didn't want/like anymore. I started "collecting" coach about 3yrs ago. I started out just buying the purses. I would then just buy a cheap wallet to match. Then I became "obsessed--LOL" and I started thinking if I bought the purse I had to have the matching wallet, wristlet, keychain, etc etc. So over the years I have a pretty big collection. I mostly buy from the outlet but have on occassion bought from the retail store.
I have bought from the same outlet for the past three years. I never thought the SA's were overly nice but I never had any problems either. In fact this one older lady and I started chatting one day and had quite a few things in common. She took my personal info and would call me whenever something came in that she thought I would like. The only time I go "crazy" with my buying is usually christmastime. This past Christmas I bought quite a few gifts. I have a teenage daughter and 4 nieces on my side of the family. My husband has 5 nieces on his side. I work in a pretty large office--all women. So I bought several keychains, cosmetic cases, etc for gifts.
Now I have been on here before and read like everyone else what most people think drives the letter--Excessive buying(thousands of dollars) routinely, Excessive returns, Returns without a receipt. I never fit into any of these catagories so I never thought I would get a "letter".
A couple of days before christmas--I was buying several cosmetic cases that were the same color/sku number. Well this one girl--who for some reason has never been nice to me said to the sa ringing me up--"She comes in here all the time and she "knows" she can only buy 3 of one item. I looked at her like she was nuts--yes I live only 30min from the outlet so I do go about twice a month but not every single day--the way she was acting. My older SA that likes me said well she is getting gifts so it should be ok. The sa ringing me up looked puzzled but went ahead with the sale. Then around the middle of January I went back to the outlet and returned some things that I decided I didn't want. I had bought 2 different styles of the same patchwork print purse and was bringing back the one I didn't want. I was also returning a wallet. Thats it and I had the receipts. Well guess who was working the register---Yes--the sa who had made the comment before. Of course my luck. Well she was very rude while doing my return and was saying things to the other sa next to her that I couldn't hear. I was floored.
Then about two weeks ago I got the "letter". It was addressed to me, my husband, and my teenage daughter. I called the outlet and asked to speak to my sa that likes me. She apologized but acted dumb as to why I would have gotten the letter. In the letter it says you cannot buy from coach period. They have accused me of being an entrepreneur. I would love to send corporate pictures of my closet. I decided to test it out and see if I would be able to order off coach.com and get a op art cosmetic case I had been wanting. Well guess what--I got it no problem.
I thought maybe my name was blacklisted but it must be tied to your credit card information. After researching this on the internet I have come to this conclusion--It takes an SA to turn you in to corporate. I know that girl did it to me. I looked back over my receipts and I did buy 6 of the same keychain and 6 of the same case. WOW and this is what they call excessive buying of the same like items??? My sister who lives out of state has 3 chihuahuas and I bought them the same collar so I guess that went against me too. I am not going to let this stop me from buying Coach. This is a free country. I can buy from my local department store or just go to a different outlet and pay cash. I am going to FL in 3 weeks and will pass several outlets along the way.
I can understand Coach trying to cut down on resellers but this is ridiculous. I have been in the outlet before and seen ladies buying armfuls of stuff at a time--do they get a letter????? I just wonder how many other innocent "coach obsessed" people will get the letter. I was reading on a post last night where a lady bought 3 sabrinas and took one back. Will she get a letter???--I mean this is crazy. My husband thinks I should just take everything back (that is new) and never buy Coach again. I just can't do that--I love the sytles. But if they would concentrate on the fake bags flooding the market I think that would make more sense. I think they should have to have proof before they accuse someone of being a reseller. I am contemplating calling corporate. What would you guys do? Thanks for any advice.
