My Coach is better than your Coach...

I got most of my Coach bags in late 2012 and just love them. I would really like to get some of the Coach Classics as I think they're beautiful. When I notice other women's bags I'm not negatively judging her- I'm just genuinely interested to see what she's carrying and how she's paired it with her outfit. I do compliment sometimes if I have the opportunity and the woman won't think I'm a nutjob.

Today was one such day. I've been carrying my blue LV Kusama Speedy. As I was leaving church I noticed a woman carrying a larger one, so I told her we're bag twins and got into a nice conversation with her.

As for this forum I haven't seen too much snobbery but I have seen it elsewhere on tPF.

As for your situation, I wouldn't worry about what other women think. First, because I would bet that most of them don't even notice. Second, because some of them might really like your bags but just haven't said so. Trying to figure out how others view us or what they're thinking can get us in a bad headtrip plus it's a subtle form of judgmentalism. Just carry what you love, be confident and don't worry.

I agree, buy what you like, and enjoy it! I'm fairly new to this Forum and everyone has been so nice, helpful and complimentary! (Except one person who accused ME of showing off my price tag!!LOL!)
I like the FP bags but will only buy on sale or in Outlet, so I'm usually one season behind! I just love a bargain and know that in a few months the bags will be 50% off.....that's just me! Welcome to the Forum!

As the other ladies have said, enjoy what you have and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. I carry my older Coach bags all of the time and love them. Some of the older bags are actually better quality than some of the newer styles. There will ALWAYS be someone with a better bag than you whether it be Coach or not. Or better shoes, or a better car etc. etc. Life is too short for comparisons. Enjoy and carry your goodies with happiness!

I never get compliments on my vintage bags, except on this forum. I'm usually surprised by which bags get compliments when I'm out and about. It isn't necessarily the fanciest. Most people don't know which styles are new, except us, so I don't think anyone is laughing at my purse because it is older or MFF.
The SA at my outlet fawned over my vintage court. First time ever for me with a vintage bag. And I haven't even rehabbed it yet.

I don't understand why it matters what anyone else thinks about what bag you carry? If you love it, carry it. That's all you need to know.

That said, there are some seriously snarky bag snobs out there that carry brands other than Coach. They sometimes come to this forum and do a driveby snarky post. It seems those posts happen every couple of months or so and are quite entertaining, lol.

Not everyone is a bag collector or knows as much about the brand as we do here in the forum. In our enthusiasm for the brand, we have educated ourselves on bag styles, features, prices, factory versus full price, etc.

Most people probably wouldn't even know what bag you are carrying, much less know that it's an older or new style.

Agree with this!

As a side note - I met up with a friend yesterday and she was carrying a Coach bag - and even with all the time spent on this forum I had no idea what style/year/etc it was other than it looked nice!

At the rate Coach releases new bags and styles, I don't attempt to keep up with the latest and greatest. Although I don't find myself reaching for my older signature bags, I do wear bags that while not vintage would be considered older, like my Sabrina, Zoe, Sophia, etc. It really doesn't make a difference whether the bag was recently purchased used or new at the time it was released. At the end of the day it's a beautiful bag and a true coach lover would be able to see that :smile1:

I buy what I love but I do think I'm a bit of a snob about my bags. I could care less about what another person buys but I'm most offended by people that assume my bag is Factory or try and deny my bag is Coach at all because it's not Siggy (which tells you what they know about the brand). We all know that the majority of boutique bags end up there anyway but I don't usually buy MFF bags. I probably own 3 and two were gifts. I bought Cora Dome myself. So I am a bit of a snob but I never check for anyone else. I love what I love.

Don't worry, be happy! I only have a handful and I choose what I like and what will last a long time, so current doesn't mean a thing to me. I love the bags, but I will never be someone who has a huge collection. We're all different, and there's nothing wrong with that. However - If someone wants to snark on my bags, they are cordially invited to go piss up a rope! ;)
