My cat ate my Borough!!!!!!

These are great suggestions. Thanks everyone for responding. I don't think the shorter tassels would bother me, but I would be nervous about them not being sealed.

I am wondering if it would be fine if I just cut the zipper pulls off? They are tucked in my bag half the time anyway and quite honestly, there is a whole lot of zipper pull action going on.

Try using the zippers without the leather pulls first. I find it's much harder to pull them open without using the pulls on the mini. On the medium, the handles get in the way for me. I like having the pulls available. And the middle zipper needs the leather pull.

Although you could buy some and put them on later, but they may not hang well. You wouldn't need to sew them on if they were flexible. You could loop them - IF they fit through the holes.

I personally like the Coach pulls. Maybe you could shop for leather or suede strips before deciding.

Take it to a cobbler and have it done professionally. :smile1:

So sorry this happened to your Borough! I have a teething puppy so I feel your pain! I'd take it to a cobbler to have the straps trimmed and sealed. I doubt Coach would have the same color/type of leather available to fix it.

Okay, this is a stupid question, but where the heck do you find a cobbler? I didn't think anyone did that kind of think anymore. I will search online, but I don't recall ever having been aware of one locally.

Google "shoe repair" followed by your city. Look at their websites and reviews and see if they repair purses.

When I go into a shoe repair shop, they usually have purses on display.

Make sure you find a good one. Call and ask them questions about how they would repair your purse, like if they can match the sealant (if it's not black).

Thank you. I will try this. My dry cleaners repairs lifts on my shoes, but I know they don't do bags. Again, many thanks!!

You can also search for luggage, leather or handbag repair. Good luck!

HI~~
Sorry your Kitty decided to snack on your pull ties from your bag. I agree with my fellow Tpfers -- I would take it to a Leather repair shop and see what they can do!
Good Luck!!!

Lynne :D

Despite religiously closing my closet door, my turd of a cat ate my Borough zipper pulls!!!

Do you think this is worth sending it in and paying for the repair? Do you even think they have the materials to repair it?

I know you didn't want your bag damaged, but it's no big deal to 'repair' it. As someone else said, at least it wasn't the bag part.

Clip the ends as others have suggested and seal the open edges with edge coating. Fiebing's Edge Kote works great and is easy to apply. It can be bought on ebay, amazon and the Fiebing website to name a few. It comes in 7 colors and costs $4.00 to $8.00 a bottle depending on where you buy it. If you ask in the rehab thread you'll probably get more help. Good luck!

Oh, that naughty cat! I love 'em, but they are so mischievous! I might first try Coach, and if that was a wash, go the cobbler route. I've had a bag fixed by them, and it was great....loved your mod shot of this bag..did you snap before or after??:D

Sorry that happened. Our pets can be some trouble at times...
I would call Coach and explain the situation , should be easy fix. And hopefully not too costly !
You could cut a tiny bit off and reseal with edge paint for leather from a craft store. I have seen pics. on here and couldn't even tell where it was re- done .
Or just not have the zipper pulls like you said. IMO it wouldn't look bad without them.

If you ever want to sell it, you should have Coach repair it.

If not, give it a try yourself. You can find Fiebings locally in a Tandy Leather store, if you have one in your city.
