The whole thing just p*sses me off even more because I really don't care about fake bags. If people want to buy fake bags when they know they're fake, I really don't care (although I realize many on this forum do not agree! Not trying to start an argument). What I DO have a problem with, obviously, is people like this seller who rip us off selling them as authentic. If you have a fake bag you want to get rid of, sell it on iOffer for what it's worth, not on eBay for a 900% markup. Even worse are the many, many people who would have bought this bag and never realized it wasn't real. At least this one went to someone who could tell the difference.

mjlover, the seller tells me that she did not know it was a fake, and it does seem to me that given the quality of the bag that is entirely possible, so I don't plan to report her to eBay unless she re-lists the bag or sells any other bags I can identify as not authentic. I just plan to watch her auctions for a while. Definitely if she re-lists it I will both report it as counterfeit to eBay and let any bidders know that it's not real.

CC, I'm so glad that you are getting your money back. We should all watch out to make sure that she doesn't re-post the bag. Good for you that you are going to monitor her auctions for a while to make sure that she doesn't relist! Hugs to you - I know that it is so stressful when this happens, and so irritating - it takes time and effort to straighten these things out, and when it happens, it can just turn you off on buying bags on Evilbay!!!

I'm glad you had another Day to compare it to and are able to get your $$ back! It's scary how "authentic" the GH's are starting to look whereas the RH's are quite obvious to the seasoned Bal expert. This is a great lesson on how to tell the difference between an authentic GH bag vs. a Fake. How about posting it onto the Reference Library, Cheshire?

awww that sucks. i'm sorry chesire!

scary as it's such a good fake! i would have NEVER known if i bought it. it's a good thing you had an authentic one to compare it too!

Cheshire,

I'm sorry this happened to you also!

To educate us more, can you post photos of the leather tag front and back and the rivets?

Side by side w/ the authenticate one?

This will help us that post in the authenticate this thread.

Also can you pm me the auction number?

Sorry of what happend Cheshire but I am glad you are getting your money back! These pictures are very useful and will save a lot of us from the fake trap, many of us will appreciate that  Thank you for posting and warning us

I'm sorry this happened to you...but I'm glad you are getting a refund. I remember that auction and thinking that the price seemed really low. Anyway, thanks for posting the comparison pics for us. Glad this worked out in the end for you!

I'm sorry ladies, I can't take any more pictures as the bag is being sent back. Yes, the stitching on the top of the tag was black, the rivets were spot-on and the tag looked legitimate, front and back. Sorry I can't provide photos - my concern was with getting photos that showed the differences with the bags. If I didn't photograph it, it's because it was so close to the authentic that the difference was not obvious in a picture.

Anyway, thanks for all the support and I will put these pictures in the reference thread - I just wanted to make sure they had a thread of their own too so they'd get looked at by as many people as possible.

You know, I thought about that too, but the simple fact is that there are a lot of authentic bags going for really low prices right now. The GGH White Day in my photos cost me $500! (Ironically, half of what the fake cost.)

Let me reiterate: The seller says she did not know the bag was fake. Frankly, I'm suspicious of that but the bag is so good and the differences are so subtle that it is completely believable that someone could have bought this and not known it wasn't real. It does seem legitimate that she could have bought a bait-and-switch bag from someplace with clueless SAs like Neimans.

So, for now I will not report her to eBay. If the bag gets relisted, or if I see her selling any other designer bags that raise alarm bells, I will be reporting her and alerting any bidders, but until that happens I am willing to consider the possibility that this was an honest mistake. :flowers:

I miss the better bad old days when the fakes had leather that wasn't a tenth as nice as the real thing and the fake colors were always enough off that it was obvious. This is a "good" fake. It really captures vert d'eau. Crap.

Can post photos here.

I looked for completed listings of your bag and think I found it. There are some photos on the listing of the tag.

I noticed the black thread on the leather tag doesn't look "straight". Is that what you saw when you received it?

Also, are you 100% certain that the white bag is authentic?

Did the seller tell you where she purchased it?

I'm intrigued!

Damn you are a good Authenticater CC!!..I can't thank you enough for those EXPERT photos..I think that someone without your artists eye and without an authentic GH Day for comparison would not have been able to pick it up..I am so SORRY that someone like you had to take the hit..hugs and love to you..go gettem Cheshire Cat:boxing:
