Now I’m mostly working from home, I dont really need structured bags but you will prise my Bayswaters from my cold dead hands lol

I love the black cherry colour, my Black Forest del rey is one of my faves! I might be tempted by a black cherry bays eek
lol… the cold dead hands made me laugh!
Black cherry is a fabulous colour. I’m really loving it in the super lux calf leather. 2d7a4bcb-d507-4aa9-a241-36707443baa4.webp

Please add photos and vital statistics of your bag in the appropriate Mulberry Clubhouse Thread so that we can continue to build up a really useful and informative reference resource.

There are also some bag threads in the Mulberry Reference library so if your bag is not in the Clubhouse, it may be there instead. Otherwise, a new specific thread can be started, preferably in the Clubhouse thread.

Thank you!

I’ve been slaving away posting what pics I can in the reference threads @MiniMabel Come on ladies, show us your bags… 😘

Reading the Mulberry thread today has me thinking. I’m a massive mulberry fan but have been MIA from purse forum for a while doing other life things. But I just bought a new Bayswater tote in the sale in Autumn Rose. It’s beautiful.

I’d already lined up some Coach Bags to take to Handbag Heaven to resell. Now Ived added 3 Mulberry’s I never carry. Bayswater in mole grey, small Bayswater in black, and Tessie Hobo in oxblood.

I now have 2 Bayswater Totes that are the perfect larger bag for me. So easily carried over the shoulder. I loved the Bayswater - my first Mulberry - but it’s so annoying to carry. I have 2 Alexa’s that replaced carrying the small bays and make my heart sing. Alexa is just so me. The Tessie is just too bulky.

I’d never part with my Black or Chesnut Alexas, Cara, or Black and Oak Lily’s and the Bayswater Totes are fantastic for larger needs. I’m seriously considering letting my large Seaton go as it’s just too formal but it cost so much new I’m not sure. I’d possibly like an Anthony and a small Amberley (I have a mini which is a great bag for phone carrying but it’s so tiny).

Now I see the OGs loving their Bayswater’s - so I’m asking, am I making a mistake. I haven’t carried any of these bags for several years and put them away for over a year not to miss them so it’s well thought out.

What do you think?

Hi @Katinahat - welcome back!

I think that it depends on whether you wish to use all your bags, or whether you are happy to have some which will rarely be used, or maybe even never, but you love them and would miss them if they were gone. Some people wish to only use their bags, whereas other people have a little bit of the collector in them and do not expect their bags to repay their purchase price/cost per wear.

It is wise to let go the ones you definitely do not feel any attachment to, as you are currently doing, and which also no longer suit you. Also, it's great that you have identified ones you'll never let go.

It's interesting that the Seaton is a potential for letting go; as you consider it too formal, perhaps that's the issue also with the Bayswater (original/heritage style) if that's in a sober colour?

Don't let other people's choices influence you too much; you and your lifestyle are completely different to them. If a bag no longer serves a purpose for you, and you wouldn't miss it, let it go to a new home and use the funds to purchase others which you'll use and enjoy.

If, after a year, you've not missed particular bags that's probably a good indicator of what you will do. However, try them on again just to make sure. Replacing a bag, especially one that is older and/or hard to find, can be frustrating as it's often difficult to source them in the condition you'd require.

Let us know how you get on! 😁

I wouldn't second guess the decision, it sounds like you’ve really thought it through. Or maybe keep one Bayswater back for old times sake and see if you use it. I love the Bayswater, it was fantastic for work, but I took early retirement a few years ago and I’ve sold all but 2 of my large bags. I kept a couple of (not Mulberry) large totes that do for travel or carrying bulky stuff and that’s all I need now - they don’t get used much.

Thanks so much for this excellent advice. I certainly have enjoyed the collection element in the past and would have been stunned then to see future me thinking of selling. But life changes and it’s good to flex with it.

I used to dress very formally for work but my vibe has gone a little more relaxed. Long maxi dresses or smart trousers have replaced suits and dark workwear dresses. The structured bags don’t work so well and are heavy. @Bonnie21 - I’m also thinking ahead to early retirement.

I think I’m happy to sell but I’m will consider some more and let you know what I decide.

This for me is the key @Katinahat. I love the Bayswater and would carry it with most outfits, but I know from my time here that others don’t feel the same - they find it too heavy, too big, etc. Similarly, I’ve seen people go crazy for styles here that I would never consider, because they’re just not me. We all have our own preferences and there’s nothing wrong with that.
