Most versatile Hermes blue and green?

I can’t help much with blues, but as a green lover, I have had many H items in various shades over the years. For versatility I generally prefer the darker shades, in this case specifically classic Vert Foncé, a more subtle true dark green. Vert Anglais is brighter/stronger and Vert Titian has strong blue undertones IMO. In particular, however, my favorite greens for handbags are the more subtle ones (Vert de Gris, Vert Bronze, Sage and Vert Olive), and what I would consider “pop” colors (Malachite, Menthe, Bamboo and Kiwi) I prefer more for small leather goods. The current season provides a relatively great bounty of H greens, so good luck choosing!

I neve thought I would ever buy a green bag, then my SA showed me Vet Anglais in evercolor with palladium hardware. I was bowled over. This color goes with so many of my wardrobe and silks. Never had any regrets about this choice. My favorite blue bags are my marin box plume (viintage)and blue electric jige on epsom. I also have an indigo blue Evelyn pm. These are super versatile blues and go with everything too. Here’s a quick collage for reference. HTH.

I have BE and Bleu Jean, and they’re the only blues I need ( I want Mykonos, but it never pans out) I find they both go well with everything. Blue Jean pairs well with casual outfits, BE would pair well in a more formal situation, but both would fit the formal bill depending on the suit you were wearing. Green wise, I have vert olive in both a K32 and a B35, and find they go with most everything I wear color wise. I had Bamboo, and found it too bright. It completely drowned anything I wore and was just too much.

Feel free to comment with TL;DR...
Bleu electrique/Blue Jean: gorgeous colors, both able to be paired with most anything you would want including business wear.

Vert Olive: somewhat muted, but strong enough to make a statement without being ostentatious, and pairs with pretty much anything wardrobe wise. Looks good casual and dressy

Good luck, and let us know what you decide!

Thank you dear okiern1981 for your kind post! Very informative. I have had the most awful struggle ever (with myself) about the BJ color.. I have a lovely opportunity to get it as a B35 Togo but because it seems to be such an unwanted color generally I have taken couple steps back and am now stucked in this indecisive "state of mind".. I am too scary to get it and feel like making a big mistake by leaving. :wtf: Have to add that I have no option seeing any colors in person.
To buy more time on this decision making, I decided to get a Cobalt GP, which I yet haven't received. Will be interesting to see how it is in IRL. I suspect it is pretty bright blue so there is still room for more neutral blue Birkin, in BJ or some other versatile blue color. Perhaps Colvert (if not too "similar" to Malachite) or some dark blue..
As for greens I chose a Malachite Kelly (will post pics after I receive it). Similarly, I suspect it to be on the bright side, so there will still be a call for a neutral, soft toned green Birkin. After reading all the comments and opinions, and after having the Malachite, the most probable options are Vert Olive, Vert Bronze (suspect impossible to find) and Vert Fonce..

It depends on your own colouring (and the leather in terms of tone).

I feel that until recently H neglected its greens and then perhaps surprisingly must have sold better than projected.

Bambou is the most versatile for me (everybody here must be sick of me saying it). Without sunlight it's a balanced mid-toned green and in the sun makes it sparkle like the fresh leaf colour it was named after. In Winter and Summer it provides POP against the browns, black, greys, off-whites, beige, camel, navys and denim I wear and blends with the melange of either Spring's golden-tones (including other greens) or autumnal shades. I only like it with phw.

I only have Bambou in Swift and Vache County. In Clemence it's shinier and brighter which is less 'me'.

Vert Vertigo is as bright as Bambou but more of a blue cast. Very nice if you look good in bright emerald green.

Menthe is as light as those above but more blue still. Good if you look fab in jade.

Malachite is darker. I have other bags in malachite, good with black and navy but I prefer smaller bags in this colour. I couldn't wear it everyday.

Vert Olive, Canopee, Bronze and other subdued greyed-browned greens I prefer to wear as RTW rather than bags but I do have some. Vert Anis and the more yellow greens add vibrancy to low-key light neutral outfits.

Vert Anglais and Vert Fonce are very close, VA slightly lighter and less blue-grey cast but both great greens, perhaps more for Winter for most people.

Colvert mid-way teal. Lovely strong in-between dark colour that some describe as blue and some green. Again more of a Autumn/Winter colour for most.

Vert Claire (not that light) and Vert Moyen available pre-loved basically fairly nice mid-greens not so much pop as Bambou and VV.

There are so many Hermes blues it would easier to say which I would entertain on a bigger bag like a Birkin.

Personally, if I was going for a pop with the green K I'd go for something more subdued for the B. Bleu Nuit, Indigo, Bleu Saphir...

Dear Papertiger, you are such a wonderful source of knowledge and generous with your help and comments! :hbeat: Guess what, I ended up getting a Malachite K35 PHW! I couldn't find it with GHW, but hopefully this combo will be fresh and "not too luxurious" (lol!) for my everyday use. A good choice, you think?? :amuse:
I hope to get softer tone green B in the future. I like your suggestions especially on Vert Olive, Canopee and Bronze, also Vert Fonce. I am quite intrigued by Vert Veronese as well, but it perhaps would be too similar to Malachite. Something with GHW to have the more luxurious look than what I have with Malachite (love the pics of Rachel Zoe wearing her VO B35 wGHW).
As for blues, I chose a Cobalt GP to start with. I still hope to find a blue B, like the thought of Colvert or perhaps plain blue like Bleu Nuit. I had it as Evie in Clemence and let it go, probably like it more in Togo. Plus I think Evelyne needs to have some pop of color, dark colors make Evie look a bit boring and blah.. Dear, I promise to do some kind of reveal as soon as I receive my new GP and Kelly! :hugs:

What papertiger said....you can't even have this discussion without knowing the leather. For instance, Bleu Saphir (a color I love) is a vibrant jewel tone in chèvre and box, a resonant blue in Swift, and a rather conservative but still gorgeous navy in Clemence.
Vert Foncé is true to its name but is also more brilliant in the saturated leathers.

I am probably a bad recommender for you as I really like Bleu Nuit and you don't, but my choices for versatility would probably be Bleu Saphir and Vert Foncé, or Vert Veronese if you can find it.

Thank your dear QuelleFromage for your post! You are right about the leather type, probably make a huge difference on color. That is actually why I have doubts about Vert Fonce. I am afraid it wouldn't look as good in Togo (my B's have to be in Togo, otherwise too floppy) as in Clemence for example.

Cobalt, blue sapphire and blue Izmir would vet he most versatile in my opinion

Thank you replayii! A Cobalt GP is actually already on it's way to me! :happydance:

Bleu Izmir, it's a versatile, chameleon color between blue and green

Thank your kristinlorraine! Blue Izmir has been an option, but it is too much chameleon to be captured in a picture. Looks a lot like Mykonos.. Probably too bright blue to somewhere with lots of rain, snow and darkness.. :noworry:

Blue - Bleu electrique and Bleu Saphir [emoji170]
Green - Malachite [emoji172]

Thank you eternallove4bag! Malachite Kelly is my chosen one, will do a reveal soon!

It's funny. I just happened to take this photo today. Maybe it could help. Here's Bleu Saphir in different leathers. Going clockwise from the top, box, epsom, alligator lisse, chevre.

I find Bleu Agate quite versatile as well. Depending on whether you're looking for a more saturated blue or a softer blue. Bothe BS and BA are great blues.

I agree with you that Zanzibar could be too bright for a bigger bag for some.

Thank you cavalier for the lovely pics! Lovely group of BS pieces! I admire BS on others but probably that tone of blue wouldn't suit me.. Bleu Agate on the other hand could be really nice!

This would be my choice of colours aswell.....

Just to add my experience I had a Bleu Saphir Clemence bag and after a while sold it because I really wanted a navy blue, which I later got as a SO in Bleu Nuit Clemence. Also I have had Vert Foncé, and after using it for a while I sold that too. But it's still my favourite H green, I also like Vert Veronese very much.

Here are pics of my ex bags, first Bleu Saphir then Vert Foncé (with flash) and last Bleu Nuit.

Thank you, THANK YOU duna for the pics!! :hbeat: In your picture BS looks something I could pull off. I find it looking different in every picture I have seen. If this represents the color well in person, that might be a good choice for my future-to-be blue B/K! As for greens, Vert Fonce is in my top three. Saw a picture of Julianne Moore (love her!) carrying hers, and it looked fabulous but I don't have at all Julianne's colouring..

I would say, Vert Fonce, Sapphire Blue, and Bleu de Prusse...it depends on the tones you typically wear though. I say Bleu de Prusse because the majority of my closet is jewel tones, camels/rich beiges, blacks, cream/white, reds. But your wardrobe may work better with a more bluish navy.

If you think it may help, you could search the H online sites for those colours or similar and see what colours they pair them with in scarf designs

Thank you thelilachour! I think you are correct with BdP, the reason it didn't suit me so good is probably that I am looking for something more true blue navy. BdP had too strong undertone that didn't match my wardrobe.

I am looking into same-ish colour family as you do, for the blues part. Here are my few cents on it:
Bleu Saphir - a more dressier, deeper (pure with no undertones) blue goes well with formal outfits, dark denim, military trend (that seems never ends ))))
Bleu Jean - a very casual muted medium blue, perfect for everything denim, more of a spring-summer vibe
Bleu Agat - a bit muted blue, my everyday work bag this fall (Maxibox cabas in BA with rouge grenat)
Bleu Electrique - vibrant medium blue, true love if you are ready fore something brighter
Bleu Zanzibar - a true bright blue, very summer colour to me taste
havent seen Mykonos or Bleu Hydra IRL so cant comment...

Thank you so much for a very informative post dear shuemacher! I feel mostly drawn towards the first three on your list: BS, BJ and BA.

I think the darker blues and greens are more versatile than some of the lighter blues and greens. The darker colors can be used in every season of the year.

Thank you dear Madam Bijoux! I chose a Malachite Kelly but hoping to find a darker green B for year around use!

Was going to suggest this! It's an eye-catching and versatile color all at once.

And vert anglais is my favorite green...hoping to be able to track down a GP in this color!

Thank you for your post cafecreme15! Vert Anglais looks like an amazing green. But it is sooo difficult to find second hand. So I ended up choosing Malachite.

I have a BdP K which is my most frequently used H bag. I never seem to wear it with dark blue-teal. (Just to get dressed and get out of the house in the am is a major accomplishment). What do you think of the color, its pluses and minuses, specifically, how did it fall short of being sufficiently versatile? I am not fishing for compliments.

Dear eagle1102us, it has been a while I let go my BdP Birkin, so it is actually pretty difficult to remember exactly what the "problem" was. But if I remember correctly, it had too strong unwanted undertones to my wardrobe. Every time I tried to use it I ended up choosing something else, because the whole look just wasn't "harmonised" enough. It popped out weirdly from my outfit. It should have been more true blue perhaps.. My collection is not very big, and never will be, so all my bags have to be very versatile. But it is a gorgeous color, just not for me.

I love Blue electric
But for versatile would say Blue sapphire or blue nuit

And malachite for green
I have vert Veronese and it is pretty versatile too

Thank you flower_power! BS is high on my wish list. As for greens I chose Malachite. Probably close to Malachite, but the latter one was easier to find. :p

Thank you 27lebborse! You are right, love the richness of green tones on the current market! But as for H, it is a dry lake for me, bc we don't have H store in my country.. :hrmm: That is why I am all dependable on second hand markets. And greens are so popular now that the selection is not too good. So, I ended up choosing a Malachite Kelly. Would love to get some more neutral tone for a Birkin in the future. Your favourite list is similar to mine, VdG, VB, VO, my top choices as well!

Thank you dear Ianit! Vert Anglais looks SO fabulous in pics! I am drooling every time I see it! But it is soooo difficult to find a Birkin in that color.. I ended up getting a Malachite Kelly, do you think a Birkin in VA is too similar in a small collection? Would VO/VF/VB be better?? Lovely collage of pics dear!

Malachite is a strong, vibrant and bold colour without being OTT. It is extremely versatile and will match and compliment almost anything. If you want something with more POP go with gold hardware or permabrass.

Bambou is even more vibrant but less versatile in my opinion.
The other end of the spectrum would be vert/vert veronese/verte fonce - but these would be less vibrant.

If you are liking the greens and blues - which generally means you want something fun and vibrant, then why go for something dark? Plus if you are looking for a smaller sized K/B...the bright colours would be amazing!

Re blue: Blue electric, mykonos or izmir for the same reasons. Palladium hardware for class and GHW/permabrass for fun and pop.

Regardless, you wont go wrong with any colour from HERMES. I am sure which ever colour, it will always be amazing! ENJOY!

Thank you so much perthhermes for your kind post! :flowers: I think you are spot on with your analyse. I decided to go for Malachite, so stay tuned..

I agree that the leather type really changes the color. I spent probably 2 hours trying to decided on my Colvert bag but because I was looking at 4 different leathers, each Colvert looked different. It was a tough decision balancing durability and best color choice for myself.

I love Mykonos the most from the colors you posted, but again, different leathers, different Mykonos.

My blue agate b has been surprisingly versatile. Definitely a soft/muted colour but makes a great backdrop to many different coloured twillies, charms, and outfits. For a versatile "pop" colour I would choose blue electric, hands down! I love a lot of the brighter blues but find them difficult to wear. I previously owned a blue hydra Picotin but could never make it work.

I just picked up a K28 kelly retourne in blue nuit with GHW and am in loooove. This color is a true navy, but in some light, it looks dark dark turquoise, and sometimes black. It's truly versatile and love that's its a relatively casual color with the the retourne. in looove!

IMO.....
most versatile blues: Bleu Indigo, Bleu Nuit, Bleu Marine, Bleu Saphir in Togo/Clemence...these are all dark...then Bleu de Prusse and Bleu Agate...Bleu de Galice is also pretty versatile.

Most versatile greens: Vert Foncé, Vert Olive, Vert de Gris (barely green)....then Vert Veronese and Canopée.

I am sure I have missed/forgotten.am ignorant of many options. I personally would love a denim blue from H - Bleu Jean does not fit that bill to me. I have the "denim" canvas Garden Party which has been described to me as "Bleu Navy". I'd love that color to return.

Would love to hear your opinions about the most versatile Hermes blue and green! I have tried to find threads on this matter and I have found for example "prettiest H blues" but it didn't give me the exact insight I am looking for.. Both blues and greens are very difficult to capture in a picture, so it would help to hear what blue/green you think will go with lots of different outfits.

Hopefully this thread will be helpful for other members as well living without H store anywhere near (in another country like the case with me).

Currently I am on a hunt (an endless one ) to find a green Kelly and a blue Birkin and they should be versatile enough because my collection is small. I have already found wonderful help here and thought to go for Malachite in my Kelly (seems impossible to find) and Vert Anglaise (the preloved market in this color is non existent). Vert Fonce is an option as well (but is it too dull/lifess green tone?)
Would love to hear what you think and if there are other greens that are versatile and perhaps a bit easier to find!

For the blue Birkin my current options are
- Bleu Sapphire (Like very much IF the color is dark jewel tone blue without strong understones but more lively than Bleu Nuit). Problem: is it dark&versatile enough without "restrictive" undertones, I once had BdP which was gorgeous but in the end wasn't versatile enough),
- Blue Jean (Like the fact that it seems to be very versatile. Problem: is it faded/dull blue, not deep enough IRL? One option for BJ is Mykonos or Bleu Zanzibar but I am afraid they are too loud for a Scandinavian..)
- Cobalt (Was a strong candidate before I decided to go with green for my Kelly and blue for my Birkin. My question is, is it a good choice for a B35? Seems like a lovely color, but why I feel it is more suitable for a Kelly..)
- Indigo (too much like Bleu Nuit which I already have in an Evelyne and find a bit boring/dead blue tone...)

Ps. I don't mind seeing pics! :flowers:
My perfect combination is a Blue Sapphire Birkin and a Malachite Kelly.

hello! I wanted to know how we feel about Blue Zanzibar? I just bought kelly 32 epsom in that color from a reseller so I've never seen it in real life.

Is this a spring/summer color? Do you feel like it can be worn year round? Is it a really bright color that attracts attention?

I had a malachite birkin 30 in epsom and I found that it wasn't super loud, just very demure and classy~~~

Zanzibar is bright - not sure it is a cold climate winter color - but it's a very happy blue. I used to live on Zanzibar and while it does not remind me much of local colors it is definitely a bit beachy.
Since you've bought it you will know soon how you feel!
