Thanks Cat, I am really tempted by Asha now. Surprisingly, the prices are lower than Moissante.com. Have you ordered from them personally?

I've ordered many pieces over the years for gifts and to use as travel jewely.Less's company is fabulous to work with.I own some very expensive diamonds and the Ahsa products definitely give them a run for the money.I can't tell you how many woman have chose to use them in their engagement rings instead of natural diamonds.

Some jewelry stores are currently using asha's in highend setting they sell. That has helped Less Wright offer these stones for much less than when his business first got off the ground. You could never go wrong with an Asha stone. You can always order a loose stone and return it if you're not satisfied, but I doubt that would be the case.:smile1:

Oh and I also ordered a neat Moiss ring from HSN from their Jo'Alan collection. I really did like it, but it did appear to be slightly greenish from certain angles in certain light. It also sparkles way different than a real diamond. I do think it could pass for a real to 99% of people, but honestly I think some people would know the difference when it's in a ring and a large carat size- this was a 2.0ct cushion center I think. In smaller sizes, or for earrings, I think it would be hard to tell they aren't diamonds. In the end I returned the Moiss ring cause I didn't want to keep looking down to see if it was showing green.... But it was very glittery and sparkly which i did like. Sometimes I want it back.

I totally think you have to order it and see IRL to see if it's for you!! HSN has a great return policy, not sure about the other companies.

I bought a Moissanite 2ct cushion cut a few years back just for fun. I paid over $500 for it, not including the setting. It looked good indoors, but once I got it outdoors, it looked green and yellow. Needless to say I returned it and I would never buy one again. I'd rather buy a good quality cz if you don't want to buy a diamond just yet. Check out Diamonelles on the shopping channel in canada.

I know someone who has a wedding set with a 1.5 moissanite as the center stone and two smaller diamonds on either side. She had it made for her at a local jeweler, and I can tell you that it is a fabulous piece of jewelry. From what I have just read about it, the hardness is 9.25 on the Mohs scale, which is right up there for durability. I can tell you that her ring sparkles, and no one is the wiser....except for me because she told me about it. Now, I am going to buy some pretty studs for my ears for myself. Especially earrings. Why put diamonds in your ears when no one should be getting that close to you to scrutinize the difference unless they want to kiss you. I'd rather spend the money that I saved for an extra handbag or two. And when I see it at Penney's (and they sell it at other jewelers, too), I think it is very attractive and nothing like a CZ.

OMG that's so true about earrings.

I really like CZ but I have never seen Asha or Moissanite in real life. The fact that Moissanite is slightly yellow puts me off a little. At least CZ's are so cheap they can easily be replaced if damaged! I got two loose CZs from eBay a year or two ago for about $10 and they are huge (a round one with 14mm diameter and an oval 16x12mm) and are really sparkly and not cloudy at all. I've never seen diamonds that big IRL but they'd certainly fool me.

My original engagement ring had a 2 carat Moissanite in it and when I first got it I really loved it. In certain types of indoor lighting, it sparkled like crazy. BUT when I took it outside in the shade, it looked really *green*. The sparkle is double refracted so it doesn't really look like a diamond.

Recently, I replaced it with an Asha and LOVE it! It looks much more realistic in my opinion. Good luck!

I clicked on the thread because I confused "morganite" with "moissanite" . . .lol

Interesting thread! I had to look up "asha" and "moissanite" - and it's so fascinating how moissanites come from meteorites!! How cool! I would agree that I don't want to wear diamond studs in my ears (as I lose them quite frequently). .

But CZs IMHO always get cloudy. . .and pretty fast too. Even after cleaning, I don't feel it sparkles as much as it did the first time I got it. . .and that's why I think moissanite is a cool alternative - it's not man made but . . .comes from outerspace! LOL

you guys really have me wanting asha studs now! I've wanted 1.5ct in each ear forever - I may actually take the plunge.

Are there other threads about asha diamonds? I want to get a little educated before I go for it - I just am unsure what it'll look like.
