Michael Kors MK - do they stand behind their products and general product info?

I can't answer your question, crissy11, because I have not had a problem with my MK bags and have not had to contact customer service. I have a couple that I've used heavily and they still look new even though I don't baby them. MK enticed me to make the leap into designer bags because I was impressed with the quality of the leather, the construction, and the organization. I've had Rebecca Minkoff,Treeje, MbyMJ,and Coach in my hands the last couple of years, but MK is my favorite.

I agree with everything!

IMO, MK bags have a better quality leather and stitching. I also like that some leathers are thicker and smoother, and some are smooshy and soft pebbled leather. Don't know if the smooshy is prone to more wear & tear like the Coach pebble (in my experience, their pebble didn't hold up well for me). So I think they will hold up well through the years.

I hope to never have problems with them. *knocks wood* So far - so good. I don't buy lots of bags and hoard them, I use 'em right away :p so don't know how that would work with returning bags if you still have tags on.

Also, just thought I'd mention, have several family members who own them and not one ever complained to me that they had a problem. Interestingly, no one in my family ever bought a Coach, even after seeing all my bags and telling me how gorgeous they were.:shrugs: But they bought MK.

I noticed the online chat on the MK site, and I think it's a nice a touch.

Have you ever tried to get someone online for chat? I did a couple of times and no one was ever there - it said try again later, but maybe it was just bad luck on timing.

Thanks everyone for the feedback - much appreciated. Like I said, I know my Grommet and my Hamilton are bulletproof, it's that embossed smooshy one I just bought that I'm more concerned about. And I'm kinda bummed that I had to take the display - I've never had to do that with Coach - they would either have one in the back or order one in for me - with Kors it seemed like such a big deal to get a fresh one. Sigh.

Anyway - many thanks again ladies, I appreciate your input.

And here's hoping we can get a MICHAEL KORS FORUM GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE the SAs, it's the manager I'm not impressed with. I'm actually amazed at how much she lies. Like flat out lies. I caught her in at least 3 in a 5 minute conversation and I don't even know how to respond to that.

I'm in Canada and I think that MK store is the only place to buy Kors in my city. Holt Renfrew may have the occasional one, but nowhere near the selection of the store, and never seems to have the really nice ones either. Oh well, I think I'm done for a while now anyway. I have 2 Kors and 2 Coach at home with tags still on, I need to at least get those into rotation before I can even think about buying something else!!

Sorry to hear you had problems with Coach, so far my experiences with them and their product have all been wonderful.

I know what you mean....when we do not have "nice" SA's it is very difficult to enjoy making our purchase, let alone buying anything from them! There are several dept stores that sell MK if you want to stay away from the boutique....I have bought MK bags and accessories in Macy's, Lord and Taylor, and Nordstroms and have had no problems! In fact if you purchase from Nordstroms online they have a live talk where you can ask questions etc and I found them to be VERY helpful!!! I asked ALOT of questions before I bought my new pair of sunnies that are on their way :yahoo:
I am glad you have had no problems with Coach!!! That is VERY good to hear!!! Unfortunately I have had alot of problems with them as well as some other brands......my problems were so horrible that I almost said I was just going to buy a $40 bag and that's that....but I couldnt do it!!!

Is there a specific time they are on for the chat, like M-F, EST, all that stuff? Maybe there's a time difference? Don't know where you are in Canada.

I wouldn't worry too much about having the display model, though I understand your concern. I think we're spoiled by Coach. ;) As long as you scrutinized all the details on the bag, and it looks good, then you should be OK. Also, if it's smooshy leather, I would just be more careful with it. Hang it on a chair, don't set it down if you don't have to. Don't let a pen go near it, etc. If you're like me then you'll only use that bag for 3 months tops, and you'll move to the next by Christmas. ;) With all the horror stories we read here about Coach, it also puts the thought in our minds that we might have the same problems with MK. You find yourself looking for issues.

Just enjoy the bag, enjoy the compliments, and be a tad more careful then you are with Coach. :D

Oh no - I am OCD/anal about my bags. They never get set down on a floor, never on the floor of my car, etc. I have a special chair for them in my office that no one is allowed to sit in, etc. ANAL doesn't begin to describe it. I only use my bags 1-2 weeks at a time. I have 14 so I need to keep rotating them all to make sure they get some use, so in a year, that bag would get used around 3 weeks tops.

The only thing about it that bothers me a tiny bit is that I think I can see on the handle where it's been picked up and set down over and over again. TBH, my DH thinks I'm nuts, so I think I'm willing to let it go. I am willing to accept the fact I'm nuts when it comes to bags.

Crissy, may I ask which bag was that you bought? The only reason I am asking is because I saw some of your photos and I am in love with the Hamilton but will hate to have any issues with it. Thanks.

OH GOD NO!! The Hamilton is one of the ones I consider bulletproof!!

Here is a pic of the one I'm concerned about - very soft smooshy leather but gorgeous:

^^ I had no idea you picked up the DISPLAY model!! If you are that troubled (like with the Tartan .. LOL), then perhaps, just return it? Once you go past those 10 days, that is it :(. And IF we are going to pay more here in Canada (shame on MK for doing that when other designers don't!), then you should get a brand new bag! Can they not call Toronto to see if they can ship you a bag to your store?

I'm gonna go in Friday night and talk to the manager, but I don't hold out much hope. Maybe if I threaten to return it if she can't get me a new one?

But honestly, I hate purse drama and have seen way to much of it in the year I've been collecting. The bag is in excellent condition, I'm just being way to anal. If getting the non-floor model was easy (like at Coach) I would do it, but I don't want to get into some long drawn out sparring match at MK when the one I have is in excellent condition. I used to be so much more easy going about things before I came on tPF and I want to get back to being that way again. I mean if it was defective that's one thing, but it really is in great (probably perfect) condition. My only real reason for going to MK Friday night is to check out the bigger one of the one I bought just to make sure I don't want that one instead. The manager will be there, I'll ask her about switching it out, if she can't and I don't want the bigger one, I'll just keep this one and never speak of it again. I want less purse drama in my life. :p

Oh and BTW - I cannot return this bag. I AM IN LOVE with it, way more than any other purse I've ever had.

I hear ya on the purse drama -- will it go on sale? will it go to the outlet? is it perfect? LOL! We have been spoilt by TPF and Coach, Chrissy :).

But you are right, if you love it that much, keep it because it makes your heart sing :). I hope everything works out tomorrow -- can't wait to hear any stories that come out of your discourse with the manager though .. LOL :)!

Oddly enough, I never second guessed any of my Kors bags for one minute. But yes, this new one blows my mind. Every time I put it on I feel like a princess. It brings out the little girl in me and makes me want to dance around the house. OK, not quite, but you get the picture. :p

I've resigned myself to the fact that MK costs more here, I'm at peace with that now. ;)

Crissy: can you order from Nordstroms online? Their return policy is MUCH better than Kors. AND you can talk to somone online 24/7. I have to say they are VERY helpful! go onto www.nordstroms.com and in the search type "Michael Kors" and the name of the bag/sunglasses/wallet/etc you are looking for to see if they have it.

Also must add that I wanted a gunmetal MK SO badly but didnt want to spend another $500 right now plus wallet, accessories, etc, so I went to the outlets and picked up a Coach Zoe in graphite/gunmetal for a STEAL at $100 with tax.....got it home, and it's going back...the entire top of the bag is flaking off....and I didnt even USE it yet.....I just may have to suck it up and buy my MK gunmetal after all.....
