If you use a phone app, there's warping in the environment. If you use traditional photoshop, there's no warping.

Trust me, I've retouched photos before. If you use traditional photoshop, there is also warping unless you know what you are doing. In fact, I'd go to say that the warping can even be worse unless you pay attention. another way to avoid it is to only make minor adjustments, which is what most people do. they don't go out of their way to give themselves an obvious alien figure. So, I guess you're saying that every other celebrity spends hours and hours photoshopping all their instagram selfies on a computer? OK... :giggles:

ofc magazines and ads will have photoshop... that's expected. but warping your body on instagram just seems sad and pathetic. and not to mention stupid.

It doesn't take hours to photoshop a photo lol! More like 30 seconds unless its a very high res professional photo. She's not the first nor last famous person to photoshop her own photos, and it would take a lot more for me to deem a woman "pathetic" but agree to disagree... I don't get bothered by other's insecurities.

it takes more than 30 seconds if you don't want crazy obvious warping and obvious pixelation in the background UNLESS you're a professional. but i sincerely doubt that the majority of celebrities are going to take a selfie, upload it on to their computer, teach themselves how to professionally photoshop a picture, make sure there are no obvious mistakes and then upload it to instagram. normal people don't do that. (even teenagers who are famous aren't doing that...)

it's bothering bc she knows a lot of young girls look up to her and like previous posters have said, you have 14 year olds posting on her pictures going "omg i wish i was that skinny" and she's out their bsing about her organic vegan lifestyle or w/e and how it helped her achieve a body that's been photoshopped into oblivion. it's an unhealthy influence and i can see why VS doesn't want to work with her anymore.

i don't even understand why models talk for her to constantly have her foot in her mouth.
she and Giselle
just be happy you were born "beautiful", smile, pose for the damn pic, and collect a paycheck

I've worked with and met plenty of celebs who do just that (or their assistants will). Again, it doesn't take hours to photoshop. Most celebs I've met are self conscious and narcissistic people. They will take the time to read comments even though they insist they don't, and take dozens of photos til they find the right one. Then, it's time to fix up the photo and find the purrrrfect caption lol. When it's your job to sell yourself, they want everything to seem perfect. Not sure why it's so doubtful that anyone would teach themselves photoshop. It's not rocket science.

ok... again. huge difference between photoshopping a few zits/wrinkles out and removing a few bumps and photoshopping your waist half the size... usually when "celebs" do that, it's obvious and gets called out. case in point. it's pathetic and sad. you'd think her assistant or someone on her team would point it out.

Do you think it's pathetic and sad when larger women wear Spanx or do corset training? Just curious. I don't see a moral difference between wearing a shaping garment and altering it digitally - same with contouring with a lot of makeup vs. photoshop or plastic surgery. Either way, it's about creating an illusion.

I actually think there's a huge amount of hypocrisy from someone like Miranda Kerr, who brings out a book titled "Treasure Yourself" and whose marketing tag reads like this - verbatim.

Miranda's first book is an incredible collection of thoughts, memories and lessons that will put you on the path to self-improvement. Written for a new audience of young adults, this book has important lessons on self-confidence, inner beauty and acceptance

^Doesn't sound like she's walking the walk there to me.

Models who photoshop? Shocking. Every single actress/singer out there does the same thing while giving the same "love yourself" advice.

Yeah but whats more effed up is girls commenting of her pictures on how they want to aspire to become as thin as her and her body is perfect and what not... I think thats just sad.

I think the bigger issue here is not that Miranda has been photoshopping herself (she's a model, all of her work that gets released has been touched up in one way or another) but her hypocrisy. She preaches and preaches about 'treasuring yourself' and loving yourself the way you are, and then does this. It looks bad on her as a role model, which she has been trying to set herself up to be.

It's the easy way out to blame models for all of society's self esteem issues, and harder to take the time to teach our young ones to accept their bodies and just be the best version of themselves that they can be. If you have a kid who would starve herself to look like Miranda, then it probably doesn't make any difference if Miranda photoshopped her waist or not. She was admired for her thin figure wayyyy before these photoshop apps existed. The problem isn't Miranda. It's with what we teach these young girls at home. I bet those girls who are starving themselves to look like supermodels probably have the type of moms who do the exact same thing and encourage them to go on "low calorie" mother-daughter diets. I know I had a friend in HS who's mom would make her eat nothing but watermelon and egg whites when she felt "fat".

Sigh.. there is so much hypocrisy in showbiz, period. I thought it was common knowledge that the industry is all about smoke and mirrors, sales, money, manipulation, etc. Miranda most likely did not write that book. She's just attaching her image/brand to the book for a paycheck, which is smart. Her shelf life as a model is very short, so she's gotta do what she's gotta do before she's considered washed up in the modeling world. If a celebrity wants to put out positive vibes into the world, fake or not, I'm cool with it. I'd rather have Miranda's organic "love thyself" B.S. than Miley Cyrus and Rihanna prancing around onstage openly promoting drugs.

^She put her name to it and that whole book is aimed at young women and their self-esteem and acceptance, so your point there is moot IMO.

This isn't about the whole world and self-image. This is about Miranda Kerr, talking the talk but apparently unable to walk the walk.

I think anyone who comments here is fully aware of the smoke and mirrors, PR, and all the rest of it. It's annoying however when someone blatantly goes against it - hence the facepalms and comments on shenanigans like this.

I can't believe she photoshopped herself in the picture with from the vs fashion show with Alessandra and Doutzen-she looks half their size. The other women must hate her! Can you imagine doing that with a picture of friends or coworkers?
