Also from this winter, two lessons learned.
One, I love the fantasy of the full-sized Nikki but not the reality. I've bought multiple Nikkis off Posh without ever really being thrilled with them. Below are the "stop while you're ahead" light gray Nikki with signature HW and blue & white striped lining with which I am content, and the "what were you thinking" non-descript gray Nikki I bought knowing it was faded, but not knowing it was this faded.

This wasn't the seller's fault, I just hoped it might look a little better. Delulu, Wombat. Delulu.
While the leather is very discolored, it's still in good shape. No holes, scratches, or major scuffs, and the hardware is also still looking good. I've decided to try my hand at dyeing this bag a deep berry color. Has anyone here dyed a bag, especially to a color other than black? I've also decided to try cleaning it in the washing machine. I'll report back!
And the second lesson? There's such thing as a bag that doesn't suit my lifestyle, and I shouldn't buy that bag. This seems obvious to a reasonable adult, but I couldn't stop thinking about a clutch I found at Plato's Closet, like, seven years ago and put back in the bin, and suddenly I had to find it. And I did! Twice!

(I didn't realize how dusty the brown clutch looks until now - I took these pictures somewhat quickly so Mr. Wombat didn't find me perched on the bed taking pictures of bags. It's not a matter of feeling the need to hide my collection - it lives in plain sight - but it felt like a weird enough thing to get caught doing that he might come after me with the thermometer to see if I'd gone feverish again)
Each of them was just $10 and I was SO excited to have found this elusive bag that I pounced before asking myself a critical question: Wombat, when was the last time you carried a clutch?
Because the answer was never. I have never carried a clutch. Delulu.
Happily, I do now have three bags that I'm genuinely happy to have, and one for ~experiments~ with dye. Some lessons were learned.
I'm almost done, I promise!
