Hello! I haven't been a big talker here, but with some indirect encouragement, I'd like to share some new-to-me bags that I've amassed this fall and winter. Please let me know if I should post these elsewhere - I don't want to gum up the works.

Two quick things: one, I largely don't know what I'm talking about, and any claims I make about colors, combinations, etc. are guesses. I'd LOVE for more knowledgeable members to weigh in; and two, my recent shopping doesn't reflect my usual habits. I picked up quite a few things over the last couple months and I don't want this to come across as bragging or to raise eyebrows. This season was rough and, sensing that I was basically going to shop my feelings, I shuffled Poshmark to show me every RM listing starting from the lowest price, and I looked for things that seemed interesting.

And that led me to this invertebrate bag:

MAB Tote.jpg

It feels like I'm trying to make you look at some hapless animal I wrenched out of a tidal pool.

MAB Tote Interior.jpg

This was described as a MAB Tote, and for $12, I decided to find out. I think it's a relatively recent design. The trim is leather and the rest turned out to be polyurethane, which gave the tassels a little too much spring, but the woven section is delightfully squeezeable. The whole thing is fiddly to operate and not super practical: the center section is the only part that zips shut, so you use the side pockets at your own risk. It's decidedly weird, but the price was right, and I have enjoyed carrying it, as its texture and its million legs are pretty different from everything else I see around my town.

And at the opposite end of the RM spectrum but for pretty much the same final price, I found this MAB in what I have to assume is glazed espresso:

GE MAB Angled.jpg

GE MAB Puddled.jpg

It's in surprisingly good shape, the color is great, and I'm astonished by how much it can carry (multiple storage tubs of peppermint bark, a box of candy canes, a grapefruit-sized gift that couldn't get smooshed, a huge scarf). This feels like such a quintessential RM piece and I'm so happy to have it!

Please let me know if this needs to move or go away - I have some more pics I'd like to share and I don't want to make a pest of myself by spamming this thread if there's somewhere else more appropriate.

And now, it's nyquil time.

Thank you for posting those beautiful bags! I think GE is a favorite of everyone. Carrie had that beauty in a Nikki but sold it. Perhaps the new lucky owner will stop by and show us.

I have a couple coming this week and Carrie does too. We will post pictures when we get them.

Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of good information from the members and more can be found reading the old threads. Hopefully, they will chime in. The forum can be a real rabbit hole!

The label says it's 80% PU and 20% leather, so I think only the trim around the top and maybe the handles are leather, as they're the only components with a front and back stitched together as opposed to a single layer. The woven section is very light and fine, and the individual strips have fuzzy backsides - vegan leather has come a long way (but then why would they de-veganize the bag by adding leather trim?). It's hard to envision them being able to pull off the same delicate effect with real leather at RM prices.

I know what you mean about the rabbit hole! And the library is an absolute treasure trove - such a bummer that many of the oldest photos are gone.

Here's one that's had me digging around in the reference threads:

Green MAM Hanging.jpg

This beautiful baby was diagnosed elsewhere as jade (I'm not knowledgeable enough to confirm), I haven't been able to find this combination in the color or style reference threads. Here's a comparison to my seafoam mini Nikki:

Greens Comparison.jpg

Similar, but the MAM is much more yellow-based, and I think I prefer it.

I do have a second bag with paisley lining and signature hardware, a mini Nikki I've had for a couple years:

Sig HW Paisley Lining.jpg

I'm guessing it's not an unusual combination, just one that managed to escape the reference section so far. Any ideas on when these two might have been made? I absolutely love them both.

WOW! That certainly looks like a jade MAB or one of those matinees. There are several in here who can confirm, and I hope they will pop in and confirm. I think Jade only came with that lining, but someone else who is familiar with these can let us know
