Sorry if kids are looking to celebrities to be role models then the parents/family aren't doing their job.

She's a young girl doing what a lot of other girls her age are doing, she just has more money and the spotlight in which to do it, so it's magnified. She isn't doing what many girls/young women before(older) and after (younger) her will do.

While I may not agree with her lifestyle choices, it's her perogative.

I think that's a cop out...the "I'm just living my life" excuse

but Miley's far from a kid, she's 21. granted I wasn't a popstar but at 21 I had graduated from college and was gainfully employed. it's like she's trying so hard to prove she has grown up and isn't Hannah Montana anymore and instead is acting as far from adulthood as possible.

yes! but being an adult has nothing to do with doing drugs and partying w/little people

idk i feel like she's just doing cliche things to look edgy

1. don't wear clothes
2. be rumored to date a black guy
3. find midgets!
4. cut your hair super short and ugly!
5. talk about drugs!
6. dry hump stuff!
7. hang out with strippers!

ugh

So parents aren't supposed to let their kids listen to music? The problem that I have as a parent is that she desensitizes the whole drug use issue. She is a hot mess and my daughter isn't going to dress like her (she has no desire to). That's not my problem. Kids that can be influenced easily may think that drugs aren't so bad because this rich celeb uses them and sings about them. Make sense?

U Obviously Missed the point.…..the Point... Parent Your Own Kids And YOU be the role model for them...Stop Expecting Celebrities to be it!

And Yeah, sometimes Parenting may involve Denying your kids access to certain things.

Yeah this is where I come down on the whole celebrity thing too. You cant expect or ask a fellow 21-year-old to be a good role model to your kids when that 21-year-old is still finding her own way. Throw in millions and a public stage and it's impossible. Miley's life is very far removed from the average teenager's, she, like most other celebs are living in a different context and what they deem normal and acceptable is going to be very different from the everyday teen. It's not ideal that their influence is so keenly felt and followed by millions of fans but the best way to counteract their conflicting messages is for parents to instill basic values in their own kids.

Who said they're letting Miley be their child's role model? :weird:

The fact is she has a big azz mouth and it IS reckless and stupid to blast how much you love drugs. Strange that this could be a debate. . . . Most celebs don't ask to be role models and that's actually irrelevant, that's not what this is about. To promote illegal drug use is just stupid. And with her vast audience, IMO, it's reckless. I don't personally know any kids that look up to her {as in a role model} but for her or any other celeb to publicly promote drugs starts to desensitize people to it making younger people think it's ok.
Doesn't matter if it's her, Rihanna, Charlie Sheen, Justin Bieber, Zac Efron, Lamar Odom, etc. . . any celeb that publicly endorses taking drugs is an idiot. Just so happens it's her and often Rihanna.

That's all my own personal opinion of course :peace:

Maybe she has things backwards? She worked really hard when she was younger, made more money than most of us will ever see in a life time, had to sacrifice being a child and was under a microscope her entire life. She made a career for herself and probably has enough to retire if she wanted to.

Maybe she feels now is the time to rebel and act out because she couldn't when she was a teen. I don't agree with what she's doing because she is FAMOUS and weather she likes it or not she is idolized by people.

And here you go...like you always say...Agree to Disagree.

i will say my little sisters see Justin Bieber and his antics and think he's gross now lol
and think Miley is weird
and I gave the eldest my version of the Beyonce album [some songs were removed from her listening pleasure]
so yes talking to your kids is important but that's not to say kids always want to listen to their parents
celebs can't be held responsible for the actions of every child around the world
but Miley and them don't have--promote it as much and Miley is as bad as any teenager bc she is just doing this to be cool
she is like that awkward girl doing everything she can so the cool kids can like her

at least Rihanna only smokes weed. Miley is talking about doing hard care drugs [yes i know ppl disagree about weed but i've never heard of anyone od'ing and dying of it, and it's legal in some states so imo it's not as bad]

I didn't miss the point. I am not worried about my kids. They have no access to any of this garbage on television. However, kids are notorious for looking up to celebs with the money and power. Especially a Disney star they grew up watching. This argument is irrelevant because you aren't seeing my point (which is her desensitization of drug use) and I could care less about yours on this subject
