She just got back from New York, where she stayed for a few days after the VMAs. She didn't realize how big a deal her performance had been until she saw the news. Her instantly infamous medley of her single "We Can't Stop" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" owned cable TV for the next week, launched a million GIFs and prompted 161 complaints to the FCC. (Spring, Texas: "She groped a woman's posterior – without hesitation." West St. Paul, Minnesota: "Multiple very indecent sexual poses and gestures, from grabbing her crotch, using a foam finger like a dildo and licking the butt of a stuff bear." Dallas: "Pornagraphic dance by Miley Cyrus. Yuck! Will not list details. TOO GROSS.") "I think," says Miley, "it's an important time not to Google myself."

Miley thought there was a chance the network might pull the plug on her mid-performance, but she didn't expect so much shock and vitriol. "Honestly, that was our MTV version," she says. "We could have even gone further, but we didn't. I thought that's what the VMAs were all about! It's not the Grammys or the Oscars. You're not supposed to show up in a gown, Vanna White-style" – a little dig at Taylor Swift. "It's supposed to be fun!"

Miley admits that her performance with Thicke got a little – her word – "handsy." But she makes a good point: "No one is talking about the man behind the ***. It was a lot of 'Miley twerks on Robin Thicke,' but never, 'Robin Thicke grinds up on Miley.' They're only talking about the one that bent over. So obviously there's a double standard." She was especially amused by the criticism from Brooke Shields, who played Miley's mom on Hannah Montana and called the VMA performance "desperate." "Brooke Shields was in a movie where she was a prostitute at age 12!" Miley says with a laugh.

"America is just so weird in what they think is right and wrong," she continues. "Like, I was watching Breaking Bad the other day, and they were cooking meth. I could literally cook meth because of that show. It's a how-to. And then they bleeped out the word '****.' And I'm like, really? They killed a guy, and disintegrated his body in acid, but you're not allowed to say '****'? It's like when they bleeped 'molly' at the VMAs. Look what I'm doing up here right now, and you're going to bleep out 'molly'? Whatever."

To be continued...

I agree with this...

I know this is idiotic to point out and completely besides the point but...

On Breaking Bad they mix up the sequences and add fake ingredients so you couldn't literally make meth after watching the show.

Outside of her dated street slang in that Rolling Stone interview, I have to doff my hat to her. The girl is smart, she knows what she's doing. I love that she pointed out the double standard, the fact that she knows she's financially streaks ahead of her audience, that America fixates on the wrong things. She's really very aware and I like that about her.

She looks so cute with the top knot bun... but yeah... she has never looked underweight to me... even when she lost a couple of pounds it wasn't drastic like Nicole Richie... let's just hope she doesn't get insane booty shots after that VMA backlash though...

Lol I miss that top bun now... I remember lot of us hating on it before..

i will say that every time i turn on the radio or go to a gossip site, miley is the main point topic of conversation. she might look like a fool but i think she knows exactly what she's doing.

Yupp. It had been a while since she had done anything or been on most people's minds and if she had just put out a regular album it wouldn't have gone far. She needed the spectacle and it worked perfectly. She's back on everyone's mind and back at the top of the charts. I'm rather impressed in that sense actually. I totally thought she was over.

both of these ^^ so true. I check out the Daily Mail a lot, and ever since the vmas, she always has like 3 or 4 new articles about her, whereas before she was rarely talked about.

Also the director's cut of wrecking ball is stunning. Amazing photography by Terry Richardson.

Miley Cyrus is suddenly shy as she arrives at pal's house with rumoured music producer boyfriend (and we've never seen her so covered up)

They were first spotted getting cosy backstage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival last Saturday.

And Miley Cyrus continued to fuel romance rumours with her producer Mike WiLL Made It when she hid in his backseat in Los Angeles Monday.

Photographers only captured a glimpse of the 20-year-old pop starlet - wearing a white crop-top and jean shorts - cowering in his car.

We can see your bare midriff! Miley Cyrus continued to fuel romance rumours with her producer Mike WiLL Made It when she hid in his backseat in Los Angeles Monday
The We Can't Stop singer then took the plaid shirt that was wrapped around her waist and covered herself with it.

The 24-year-old beatmaker - born Michael Williams - and his male friend sat in the front seat following a visit at a friend's house.

The bearded Atlanta-bred producer wore a black baseball cap, white T-shirt, and blue jeans below his rear.

Mike is prominently featured in Miley's new basketball-themed music video for 23, which hit the web Monday.

But according to Gossip Cop, a source close to Cyrus denied the pair were dating noting that Mike is just the 'producer of her album.'

On September 16, the Party in the USA hitmaker officially split with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth after four years together.

The day after announcing their split, the Australian 23-year-old was photographed passionately kissing Mexican starlet Eiza González.

Of course Kanye is Miley's homie. They have the same personality! Both are narcissistic and both have delusion grandeur. Both think they are history makers!

I agree Kanye is a narcissist, but his $hit is right. He's produced a lot of great hip hop and his lyrics are rather clever. If you pay attention to hop hop history, he DID change it.
