If anything, Miley is trying to mimic performers that are black. I don't consider that racist. It comes across that she thinks they're cool, have some certain moves and gestures and she wants to be cool like them. If anything, it's sad. She fails miserably at it, but that's a whole other story.

You know what I find racist? People who try to make nonracist things racist. Its a far, far stretch to find Miley's antics racist. Thinking that it was means that people are looking for reasons to be racially offended.

It reminds me of the Dunkin Donuts ad in Thailand that have people all up in arms. You have to want to be offended to be offended by that.

Yes!

Ladies, ladies, ladies. I beg of you, don't stir that cauldron again. It leads from simple observation and personal opinion to a heated debate on principles of what is racist and what is not, including offense taken where none was intended, ad nauseam.

This is a gossip thread, not a sociology seminar.

Just had to get this off my chest. Sorry.

Amen!
Im here for the gossip! Lets talk MORE about how Hannah Montana's bum looked like two defrosted Foster Farmers cutlets stuffed in single patty dry wrap! ...

I agree with you.

The people saying it is not racist are using a very narrow textbook definition. its racially insensitive for sure. The same way I would call all the native american trends and headdresses worn at summer festivals racist. Racist in the sense that the people doing it feel entitled enough to take from another races culture (out of ignorance from a superiority complex ?)and disregard any thoughts that what they are doing may be offensive. It happens all the time with native american tradition. White culture has tried to mimick it with no respect for any of it, so it becomes a mockery and highly offensive to those who.are native. It happened in the 1920s jazz era. Whites wanted to rebel against uptight victorian standards and thus adopted dance and music of black culture. It was considered contraversial the way twerking is being discussed now. I find what miley is doing very insensitive culturally. But I think its more offensive to those who have been raised with culture.
Umm.... What? Everybody is raised in a culture!

Miley Cyrus heads into the recording studio to get back to work on her new album Bangerz on Monday (September 2) in Studio City, Calif.

“ain’t nobody got time for that #BS,” the 20-year-old entertainer tweeted that day, perhaps referring to the false interview quotes that have spread over the weekend.

An interview went viral in which Miley was attributed as saying she has “so many f–king issues” and that she is “so f–ked up” following her performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs, but her rep confirms to JustJared.com that these quotes are not accurate.

“She only did one interview since VMAs and that’s not it,” her rep told us. “She sat down with MTV for her upcoming [documentary]. We haven’t released that interview yet. Someone did some creative editing of an old interview.”

MLK...who knew he was such a racist.

Look, you don't get to judge the validity of whether a minority group feels they're being used and taken advantage of. You have actual black people stating exactly why they don't like her performance and you're coming in here saying "Nope...you're wrong" It's fine if you don't see it...cause like I said before, if you're not actually black, you might not, but when you say "You're wrong...and you're a racist for feeling offended"...well that's rather d1ckish and pretty ignorant as well.

Sorry, I couldn't let such crap pass without being addressed.
