Mikimoto vs VCA MOP

I will throw in one more thought since the two of you are looking and want south seas. I love love love the Tiffany Victoria south sea pearl drops (I love the Victoria line). I have been so close to getting these earrings at least three times, but the purist in me only buys Mikimoto pearls and akoyas so I didn’t get them.

Since you are looking for south sea, and if you don’t mind Tiffany, I think these are stunning. The luster is not the same as an akoya, the south seas are a more satin finish, but I love the design, and for dangle , the 11-12mm size is great.

As for Tiffany, I’m a Tiffany gal also and love their pieces so I don’t think you can go wrong with either Mikimoto pearls or Tiffany.

Just a thought I want to share.

These are beautiful.
Kill 2 birds with one stone— Tiffany diamonds and south sea pearls
Will keep them in mind
Thanks

Why not both? As in think about what you want to get in mikimoto and vca in terms of rings necklaces etc
For south sea pearls I would get Paspaley, nothing beats the size of south sea pearls and they’re much rarer and more difficult to produce than any of the pearls out there including Akoyas
and when it comes to earrings bigger earrings 12mm+ are extremely stunning! And you can get away with 12mm for daily wear
personally I would go for mikimoto necklaces, Akoyas don’t get that big and once you own south sea pearls everything just seem too small...
I think pearl earrings and vcf necklace is a good combo, alternatively you can have vca earrings and mikimoto strand

Thanks so much for your very helpful advice especially about the 12 mm size.
I had thought about getting a Mikimoto strand but also want a VCA 10 motif at some point so decided to go with Mikimoto SS pearl earrings.
I have 2 pairs of VCA vintage Alhambra earrings so no more VCA earrings.
It’s a good problem to have but so difficult to decide -I may just buy the strand first and earrings later.
