Compass, It's hard to believe it's five years since that baby came out! You really do take great care of your bags! It looks as gorgeous as I remember it!

I use the MK stain spray, but I have not used it on my luggage color bag. Don't know why. I just really never got around to it.

You do not need to cover the hardware when you spray your bags.

Mrs. Mac, congrats on your new bag and wallet! And, thanks for starting this thread.
I've been stressing over this very issue: to pre-treat or not to pre-treat my luggage color MK Hamilton Tote. Prior to carrying my bag, I called two MK boutiques and one SA said that I didn't need to pre-treat and the other said to pre-treat it with the MK rain and stain guard. So, I decided to pre-treat the handles only with a leather protectant spray. But, I got a little nervous the other day when I noticed a little dirt on the body of the bag. Thankfully, the dirt wiped off with a damp cloth (just as the care card says).
I hope you get more replies. (I need a tie-breaker between karmenzsofia and Compass Rose have opposing recommendations. :D)

Luggage color is GORGEOUS!!!!! I HAD to have a bag in this color!!!! I purchased the braided grommet shoulder bag and the fulton wallet with the big MK charm front and center!!!! I am hoping to hear more, too. I went to our MK boutique today to ask and was told not to pre-treat a new bag b/c it doesnt need to be treated.....she said a vanilla or white bag she would say to use a conditioner on, but not the luggage! Now I dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!!

Mrs. Mac, now I'm stressed out on your behalf! LOL. It seems like your SA has a point. I'm sure that you're ready to carry it, so perhaps you can try your luck without pre-treating. Good Luck!

Here are some hastily taken pictures. The first one is with a flash and the others are in natural day light. Really, there isn't a mark on this bag. I just make sure that I'm not caught in a downpour when I'm carrying it. I know that's totally unavoidable, but I just tend to baby my poor bags. If I am not mistaken, the leather on this bag, since it is 5 years old or so now may be a bit different from today's model. I did see some astor bags at Dillards the other day and the leather was quite different, although the style was the same. Whatever you do, you'll make a great decision and you'll have a great bag!

OMG your bag looks GORGEOUS!!!!! I cannot believe it is FIVE YEARS OLD!!!!! Thank you so much for posting these pics! I did not pre-treat my embossed python (see my avatar), and I havent put anything on it and it still looks GREAT even after being caught in a downpour.....I am thinking now I will wait to put anything on it.....hmmmmmmmm this is a very hard decision!!!!

nascar this bag is GORGEOUS!!!! Have you put anything on it to keep this color? How often do you use it? It's HOT!!!!!!

and as luck would have it, it JUST ARRIVED!!!!!!!!! and it's GORGEOUS!!!!!! OMG this luggage color is seriously the most beautiful leather color I have EVER seen!!!! I am SO torn.....I dont want it to stain, but on the other hand, the SA said if I do get a stain, it will wipe off with their conditioner lotion......UGH I dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!!

I have not put anything on it. I have not used it much, but it doesn't seem delicate. I have thought about pretreating it but don't really think it needs it.

I just started pretreating bags. It makes me nervous to do so. I don't like purposely spraying anything on a bag.

I got the spray from the MK boutique, but it was recommended when I bought the vanilla-colored Roslyn. It is one they told me to baby. The others, though, I just use them and don't worry.

Really, I wouldn't excessively worry about the MK bags. They seem to hold up VERY well. I love every one of mine.

Like I have said before, enjoy them!

Here is the Roslyn they told me to baby. It is very soft lamb leather. I can see why this one would need treating. Denim transfer would probably be something to watch for with this.

Congratulations!!

If I were worried about it, I would get the MK leather spray and barely spray it. Or, if you have a boutique, go to them and ask them to spray it for you. ???

Let's see a pic!

nascar: that's the SAME thing the boutique told me this AM.....the SA said for the luggage color she would do nothing to the bag, but if I were buying vanilla or white she would say to use the conditioner on it......it was a cream, not a spray, but I think all the treatments are pretty similar???!!! I cant stop sniffing this bag! OMG it smells SO good!!! Honestly I am afraid to treat it b/c I dont want to lose this yummy smell!!!! MK leather, from what I have heard, holds up wonderfully. I havent heard of any problems with this leather, like I have about alot of other names. There also doesnt seem to be much in the way of defects. That is why I started to get into Michael Kors....besides the fact that I think he is HOT!!!! LOLOLOL

I think I enjoy your posts more than any. You are so passionate about your MK.

Yes, they smell wonderful. Just enjoy and send us some pics!

I am going to FNO tonight at Neimans. I will take some pics of the MKs on their shelves so we can enjoy looking at them. ;)

Awwwww, Mrs. Mac...don't stress out!! Whatever you decide to do, your bag will survive. The leather protector is made for exactly that.....to protect the leather from the elements and all sorts of other parts of living. I just didn't feel I needed it. I will admit, if I hadn't stated this earlier, but I think the bag darkened a bit since I got it, sort of like a "patina". To all those who posted pictures.....great bags, one and all!!! I truly think we do need a MK subforum because these bags truly are worth it.
