Well I think it's a combination, and he's a risk taker, as he said, he follows his guts, and with the Hollywood possibility, I do believe he's getting offers since he's one of the new it boys but he turns them down because they mostly don't appeal to him, also back then he auditioned for a few parts when he wasn't that well known and got turned down or now perhaps he also may not fit the part. Still, he's trying the artistry side and trying new things.

I agree. I do think that he sign on thing that he is interested in. I noticed that a lots of brits and european prefer to work on project that they are interested in, and not necessary hollywood's project. They tend to mix thing up. Plus, hollywood doesn't take risk anymore. I am glad that he is taking risk. I hate when actors take the safe route.

Oh yeah it popped in my Variety email. But it doesn't mean he has signed the deal or is still in talks? Anyway Chemical Brothers soundtrack? I'm here for this!

The project sounds interesting. I love the Chemical Brothers.
Also, it seems to bother a lots of people (Lainey and celebitchy) that Michael doesn't want to play the hollywood's game (i.e Oscars). I don't get it. I think that Michael is just an actors who wants to act. He is not vain enough to think that he absolutely deserve an oscars.

On another note, just read Celebitchy and Kaiser's take on Fassbender about the jokes of his genitals and explaining the double standard had me laughing. She is trying too hard to prove that she's "over him" and find faults in what he said/did lately... She's going too Lainey :D

I've been a lurker for awhile and signed up today just so I could totally cosign your post! I had the very same reaction reading Celebitchy yesterday...she's pulling a Lainey. She's showing just how "off the Fassdong" (her words) she is by nitpicking and even missing the point entirely of what he actually says. She said the GQ interview turned her off him. Seriously? She's been riding his jock for years but one interview is going to cause her to do a 180? Her and Lainey both come off as jilted ex's trying wayyyy too hard to show their over him.

I had to laugh cause later she posted about Angelina Jolie's post-op breasts with a preamble to all the meanies who disagreed with her on her Fassy post. She was all "See! I objectify all celebrities! I talk about all their body parts!" Well, until she names Angie's boobs and talks of wanting to ride her like seabiscuit, it's not exactly the same as what she's said about Michael. She REALLY did not like being disagreed with and called out on her hypocrisy. But I'm glad people did (I may have contributed a comment or 2!) Michael's getting all sorts of grief on twitter and gossip blogs over things he never even said. And the only reason he did say what he did is because once again the interviewer just had to go there. It's the media who keep harping on it. I'm sure he'd be glad to see the subject go away and talk about his work rather than his genitals.

Welcome Allie!! Excellent first post. I couldn't agree more.

Welcome Allie28!

Parts of an Australian interview.

MICHAEL Fassbender is drinking a green juice. Now, before you think he's gone all 'California' on us and turned his back on his stout Irish roots, it transpires that he's just giving his much overworked liver some respite.

When we meet at a fancy downtown New York hotel, Fassbender has only just returned from the Toronto International Film Festival, where his hotly anticipated film, 12 Years a Slave, premiered to a rapturous response, and where he says he spent most of his time "drinking, drinking and more drinking".

"You see people you haven't seen in a while, and all of a sudden the bottle of whisky comes out," he says.
He's also becoming accustomed to people being curious about his personal life.

In the past he's been linked to Zoë Kravitz, and he was seeing Shame co-star Nicole Beharie for most of last year, but he's recently been spotted with British Olympian Louise Hazel.

Asked if he's single, he just flashes that megawatt smile and says, "Ah, I'm just having a good time." And you get the feeling he is.

While his own trips to Ireland are "less and less, unfortunately", Fassbender says his parents, who have recently retired and to whom he is very close, visit him often - wherever his work takes him.

"They're an absolute treat. They are the easiest guests to ever have. I think a lot of the time people are like, 'Oh no, the parents are going to be here', but they're the easiest. They come, they potter around and do their own thing. They understand that I work 16-hour days."

I agree. I don't mind that he's being laid-back about it. He seems so busy with other projects that it probably isn't much of a priority for him right now anyway. This is not to say that he wouldn't like an Oscar nomination but 12YAS is such a strong film and his performance equally as strong that he doesn't really have to make all the campaign rounds. This is a talented actor who has paid his dues and deserves this level of success imo. I couldn't care less if he's kissing Hollywood's a$$.

Now that Michael is becoming more famous I'm glad that he is beginning to protect his private life. I've read both the Elle and the Australian interviews.
In the Elle interview when asked if he was in a relationship at the moment, he wouldn't answer the question. In the Australian interview, he avoids the question.
He appears to be following the Kerry Washington privacy playbook.
For years Kerry Washington has appeared on red carpets alone. Even rumors that she was a lesbian surfaced. Now we find out for years she was dating, became engaged, got married and now appears to be pregnant. She still hasn't acknowledge anything.
I guess my point is he should maintain his privacy regarding his relationships. I think all actors would benefit from guarding their personal lives.
Now if only he can tell all the journalist to stop asking him the same question.

That is super cute.

Hello Allie28, sorry for the late reply, welcome you! :smile1:
Right on! The main one aka Kaiser is as stupid as the sky is blue, but that's why she is funny to read, i.e. not very witty, bad writing and being childish when she's being disagreed with, she bans you from the blog

Someone got caught pissing in the bushes

^^ She definitely does.

Wow it's a bit wrong to take photos of a man while he's taking a slash, unless that was part of filming (?)... which would mean that Fassbender was holding a bottle and not his...

I wasn't aware Ben Mendelsohn was in the movie... very cool.
