Artica, it's a great article, isn't it? Who cares what the judgmental detractors think, when you've got these firsthand accounts of addicts themselves who find the movie non-exploitative and accurate in its essence? I hope Michael and Steve got to read that one.

I hope so too. It's the ultimate compliment.

I was busy ;)

OMG, is it me or the Fassmeister on coke here? I always though he was drunk when he was interviewed by that Italian girl, but he seems completely out of his head. Either that or he is extremely bored. Lesson number 1, do let a hyper person get bored EVER!!

Thanks :smile1:

It would be hard for Steve to shoot in England since the movie settings are in New York, Washington DC and Louisiana.
They are casting the team right now but they'll start shooting next month (not in May) for an early release in 2013. And no Brad is not doing just a cameo appearence, he's one of the leads he'll play either James Burch or Samuel Bass, Michael will play the other one (I'm guessing he'll be the bad guy :graucho:). If you read the book you'll know that the slave Solomon Northup (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) was born in Georgia, Atlanta that is why they'll start shooting there soon.
I hope he does play one of the villains. There are several. He has the range to play an evil character. I think Steve is too authentic of a director to shoot 12 Years a Slave in the UK. If he did most people in the industry and fans would probably say "WTF".

Steve is an okay director. I haven't been too impressed to be honest. I appreciate that he grapples with themes that other directors would normally touch. However, in his films, I feel like something is missing but I can't put my finger on it. I just hope 12 Years is flawless and doesn't seem like it needs to be edited.

Michael has ADD so, I'm sure he was trying in his own way to stay engaged. I also think he was wasted. It's pretty funny to watch. My favorite part is when the director snatches the microphone from Michael. Ha!!!

Am watching SAG too, actually. It bears repeating that Christopher Plummer is rocking those award speeches.

Artica, it's all about good strategizing: bypass the UK offices (bureaucracy, schmureaucracy), head down to a Broadway Mkt pub when Fass will be in town, and hand over the CV to the man himself. Ta-da! You can kill two birds with one stone and nonchalantly suggest that he needs a bedrest assistant. :giggles:

What's going on there? Seen any fashion faux-pas yet? I'm so not interested in who's gonna win any more after this week's Oscar debacle.

Somehow, I find it even more scandalous :nono: that his own guild would omit him. You'd think that SAG would be more politically impervious to the PR, but no... SAG often matches up with Oscar nods since they're similar voting bodies. Going with that logic, Gary Oldman actually nudged Leo DiCaprio out of contention. Michael was in 7th position?! Urgh, what a disgrace and utter nonsense.

Fandora, nice suit! Who's the lad? Don't recognize him.

Lad's name is Jack Huston. Anjelica's nephew BTW. He's in Boardwalk Empire. Has great style IMO.

Ladies have fun tonight. I'm off to bed!

God, we need a Men of Boardwalk thread. Hot &Terrifying Weirdos, actually. But srsly... how do we get a thread dedicated to Michael Pitt in the Dillinger with a gun and Jack Houston making half a face looking hotter than it should ever be lol...

Omg, you've just described in a nutshell the sort of men I usually lust after!
We can have a separate thread, or do some lovely OT dedication to these men once in a while within the Fassy topic. I'm all for both  Well... I need to watch Boardwalk Empire first and foremost.
